In recent years, along with the reform of education system and the deepening ofsocialization of logistics in colleges and universities, managers in colleges and universitiesgradually pay more attention to the dormitory which is taken as the basic unit of universitystudents community.In today’s university, as the traditional place of study and live for thestudents, the concept of "class" gets weakened, it act more as the important place of receivingprofessional forms of education.Under the credit system, curriculum schedule of one major ismore liberal than the middle school, although the professional class is important, theafter-class learning and living has more profound influence on the growth of college studentsto a certain extent. Student community is a place where college students inhabitaregion,today’s students community has increasingly expanded and developed into a relativelyindependent region which integrites the functions of living, learning and communicating.Itcomes out from the enrollment expansion of colleges and universities and introduction ofmarket forces in colleges and universities logistics, the previous student apartments can notmeet the need of status quo, the student accommodation area gradually began to bring in moreservices and facilities and organizations which can meet the needs of the student, thus thecommunity get developed. Comparing to a short class, communication between students, lifeand study take more place in the student community, which is the major place to communicatetheir feelings, thoughts and values and even debate.However, now there are still quite a number of colleges and universities blindly attachimportance to the class form of education, ignore making use of the community, which is freer,openning a brand new space to give quality trainning and ideological and political educationto the students, especially make up for the short of deepening ideological and political workinto the student community. Large community accommodates thousands of college students,they come from different areas, bearing different cultural background, along with the rapiddevelopment of internet which makes colleges and universities different from the past "ivorytower", diversitfied thought and cultures, and closer contact with the society has brought bothbeneficial influences and the negative effects to the student community. Therefore, theeducation function of college student community get increasingly highlightened. At the same time, the college ideological work should break up the traditional patterns of one-wayindoctrinization, make better use of recessive education function to take up this new fieldunder the new characteristics, let more students grow up healthier in the students community.College ideological instruction work entering into the student community is not new, thereare quite a number of domestic college educators and scholars who focus on this, while mostof their research are exploring how to implement the college ideological instruction work tothe student community under the existing mode, which gets good results but studentscommunity is still high incidence area of unstable factors of colleges and universities, as wellas important points and difficult points of the ideological work. How to promote theuniversity students’ ideological work up to a key stage in the community still needs furtherresearch.With the increasingly globalization of every society fields today, it also requires that theuniversity students’ ideological work should have international perspective, therefore, theresidential college system-student community education mode becomes our rare learningobjects for reference, which has been the proud of Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Yale,international first-class universities. Residential college first appeared in Paris, France in the12th century, and later spread to Britain’s Oxford, Cambridge and get further developmentthere. Its feature of independence, culture diversification, student orientation, professor(teacher) engagement have been adopted by many international well-known colleges anduniversities, then whether its system advantage can be used by our college studentscommunity and combined with the ideological work become a new subject.First through the discussion of the present situation of ideological work of universitystudent community of our country, This paper makes an in-depth analysis of cause, and takingresidential college of Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Yale as the example, sum up furtherlythe advantage and disadvantage of its operation mode, and make conclusion and analysis ofits implication by comparison of the domestic residential college mode of "localization"which has been applied in several universities. Finally, in view of the problems of currentcollege students community, combining with the the inpiration brought by residential collegemode, the article is aiming to put forward personal thoughts and advice on how to drawlessons from the core strengths of the residential college system to improve the ideologicaleducation of college students community in colleges and universities.
