A Comprehensive Research On The "Supplementary Word" Of Zihui Bu

Zihui Bu is a large dictionary written by Wu Renchen of the Qing Dynasty to supplement Mei Yingzuo’s Zi Hui.According to the preface written by Yan Hang and examples written by Wu Renchen,wu Renchen’s task includes three aspects: supplementing characters,supplementing sound and meaning,and collating errors.Supplementary text is to supplement Zi Hui with words it does not receive;Supplementary sound and meaning is to supplement the missing sound and meaning for Zi Hui;Proofreading error is to correct the discrimination error of Zi Hui.This paper mainly studies the problems existing in the "supplementary word".Taking the "supplementary characters" of a as the research object,this paper plans to systematically sort out the problems existing in the supplementary characters of Zi Hui Bu from the perspectives of philology,exegesis,phonology,lexicography and Philology,and analyze the causes of the problems.On the basis of absorbing the research results of predecessors,this paper perfects the existing textual research results in the academic circles,and makes textual research on some difficult words.The full text is divided into seven chapters:Chapter 1 is the introduction.This paper mainly introduces the author,completed book,edition and research status of Zihui Bu defines the research object of this paper as the content of "Supplementary word",and briefly introduces the materials required for this research,the research methods,procedures,value and significance of this paper.Chapter 2 is the problem of glyph.By tracing the source of the words supplemented in Zihui Bu,it is found that there are some problems in the part of "supplemented words".Chapter 3 is about phonetic notation.The phonetic notation of Zihui Bu is the coexistence of phonetic annotations and fanqie.The same word is often marked with both fanqie and phonetic annotations.This means that if there is a mistake in the use of fanqie words,the phonetic annotations made according to fanqie will not be credible;If the phonetic annotations is wrong,the fanqiet made according to the phonetic annotations is also unreliable.By tracing and comparing the phonetic symbols of the words supplemented in Zihui Bu we find that there are two major problems in the phonetic part: inheritance error and compilation error.Chapter 4 is the interpretation.This paper analyzes the problems in the interpretation of the words supplemented in Zihui Bu from the perspectives of previous errors and compilation errors.There are mainly errors before inheritance: errors in interpretation text,supplementary interpretation according to glyphs,wrong revision of interpretation,and phonetic notation as interpretation;In terms of compilation errors,there are mainly problems such as supplementary interpretation according to glyphs,mismatch between sound and meaning,wrong revision of interpretation and so on.Chapter 5 is the identification of variant characters.Wu Renchen has done a lot of allogeneic identification work in Zihui Bu some of which are inherited from the previous dictionary,and some are the results of Wu’s identification.Some of these allogeneic identities are correct,which is of great significance to the compilation and revision of later large-scale Chinese character books;Some are wrong.We need to identify and eliminate them when absorbing these achievements.This paper mainly analyzes the problems existing in the identification of variant characters in Zihui Bu.The main problems are the error before inheritance,the wrong identification of a word because of its similar shape,and being mistaken for the same word because of the same pronunciation,and so on.Chapter 6 is the citation problem.By tracing and comparing the materials cited in Zihui Bu,it is found that there are some problems in the citation part,such as text error of the citation and the same abbreviation of the titles of different cited books.This paper focuses on the specific situation of Jiyun cited in Zihui Bu when titles of different cited books are the same.Chapter 7 is value and significance.On the basis of the above analysis and research,through a large number of examples,this paper points out the value and significance of the research on Zihui Bu to previous word books and contemporary large dictionaries.
