| Western medicine education in China has gradually developed with western medicine missionaries engaged in medical missionary activities in China.Medical historians generally believe that Beiyang Medical School is the first government-run Western medical school in China.Beiyang Medical School originated from the Beiyang Medical School established in 1881.After the era of the Republic of China,Beiyang Medical School was successively renamed Beiyang Medical School and Zhili Public Medical Specialized School.Due to the problem of school funding,Zhili Province and the Ministry of the Navy had a "name and reality dispute",which led to the original Beiyang Medical School in 1916.Since then,Beiyang Medical School has shown the development of "one vein and two branches".Among them, the one located in Tianjin was placed under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Navy and changed its name to the Naval Medical School.Later,it was forced to close in 1932 due to lack of school funds; The other branch, which moved to Baoding, experienced the school running stages of Zhili Public Medical College, the Department of Medicine of Hebei University,Hebei Provincial Medical College,Hebei Medical College, etc.,and developed into the present Hebei Medical University. The 30 years from 1881 to 1911 was a key stage in the development of Western medicine education in modern China. It not only broke the single pattern of Western medicine education dominated by the church, but also laid a solid foundation for the diversified development of Western medicine education during the Republic of China. The Beiyang Medical School played an extremely important role in this development process, pioneering the specialized education of Western medicine in modern China. This paper takes Beiyang Medical School as the research object, uses research methods such as textual research, sorts out its founding background and historical evolution from 1881 to 1911,and systematically examines its school-running characteristics and performance. On the basis of comprehensively summarizing the experience, lessons and historical contributions of Beiyang Medical School, this paper provides some experience and reference for today’s medical education reform. This paper consists of an introduction and a main body. The introduction part makes clear the theoretical value and practical significance of this thesis by introducing the reason, significance, main research contents and research ideas. The main text consists of seven chapters and consists of three parts. The first chapter is the first part, expounding the historical background of the establishment of Beiyang Medical School. The second part includes chapters 2,3,4,5 and 6,which is the core of the research of this thesis. This part is based on the evolution of Beiyang Medical School from 1881 to 1911,and focuses on two aspects: one is the historical evolution of Beiyang Medical School, mainly combing the founding process and evolution of Hebei Medical University,as well as the Hebei Medical University of the founding time and name of the Textual Research; The second is the school-running characteristics and performance of the Beiyang Medical School, which respectively expounds the organizational structure and management, teachers, students and courses, teaching and assessment of the Beiyang Medical School. The seventh chapter is the third part, which systematically sorts out and objectively evaluates the historical contribution of Beiyang Medical School, and summarizes the experience and lessons of Beiyang Medical School in the process of running the school more comprehensively. This part provides useful inspiration for the current medical education reform from the aspects of financial support and institutional guarantee,as well as encouraging innovation in medical education. |
