Compilation And Printing:on The Beginning And End Of The Formation Of Song Yuan Xue An

The compilation process of the Song Yuan Xue An is complicated and closely related to the academic history of the Qing Dynasty.In the early Qing Dynasty,the academic atmosphere of advocating the School of Zhu and opposing the School of Yangming,directly influenced Huang Zongxi to compile Song Yuan Xue An.From the Song and Yuan parts of the Record of Neo-Confucianism to the original Lizhou version of Song Yuan Xue An,Huang Zongxi’s understanding of the history of Neo-Confucianism had changed,and he increasingly broke through the orthodoxy and reached beyond the academic disputes between the School of Cheng-Zhu and the School of Lu-Wang,managing to evaluate the gains and losses of Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Yuan Dynasties from an impartial perspective.Huang Baijia followed the ideas of his father,trying to construct the objective history of Neo-Confucianism in Song and Yuan Dynasties.Quan Zuwang supplemented the book in order to defense the School of Lu-Wang.Although it was related to his respect for Huang Zongxi,the supplement also implied his dissatisfaction with the official writing of the History of Ming Dynasty,which supported the School of Zhu Xi and opposed the School of Yangming.Compared with the "Neo-Confucianism" horizon of Lizhou and his son,Quan Zuwang adopted a "Confucian" perspective on the intellectual history of Song and Yuan Dynasties.A large number of thinkers who were dismissed by the orthodox of Neo-Cconfucianism,as well as many litterateurs,were included in the supplement to the Song Yuan Xue An,suggesting his perspective of intellectual history as the combination of "Taoism","Confucianism" and "Literature".In comparison to Lizhou and his son,Quan Zuwang inclined to pay attention to both scholarship and morality,and sometimes even emphasized morality more than scholarship.The inheritance and transformation of the Neo-confucianism judgment in Song and Yuan Dynasties from Huang Zongxi to Quan Zuwang,indicate that since the early Qing Dynasty,scholars have paid more and more attention to the daily life dimension of Confucianism rather than the mysterious truth.It was related to the intellectual turn of "the reconciliation between the Han School and Song School"("Han Song Tiao He")that Song Yuan Xue An was proofread,supplemented and publicated in the Daoguang Period.Through the compilation of the Song Yuan Xue An,we can observe the academic turn since the Qing Dynasty.
