Abstract/Summary:
The doctor-patient relationship is a specific therapeutic relationship between medical staff and patients in the medical process. The famous medical historian Henry Ernest Sigerist once said: "Every medical action always involves two types of parties: the doctor and the patient,or more broadly, the medical community and society.Medicine is nothing more than a multifaceted relationship between these two groups of people." The doctor-patient relationship in contemporary China has always been an important topic of social concern. From the current situation, there is indeed a certain "estrangement" between doctors and patients, that is,there is a clear difference between the patient’s experience of the disease and the doctor’s understanding of the disease.Clinical patients feel "thrown into" the world of disease when they are told by their doctors that they are sick, just as Heidegger said that each of us is "thrown into" this world.Relative to the first "thrown" at birth, sickness can be referred to as a "second thrown ".The aforementioned estrangement occurs when physicians focus on biomedicine and the treatment of diseases while neglecting the suffering of patients. For the patient,a doctor not only serves as a professional who treat diseases, but also has psychological and social meanings.Unfortunately, the development of medical technology can not solve the above problems.Especially since the epidemic, the rapid development of telemedicine and the Internet prompts more and more non-"face-to-face" or "non-contact" situations between doctors and patients, which aggravate this "estrangement" to some extent. Therefore,we need to explore the doctor-patient relationship from a new perspective.Phenomenology is one of the most important topics in contemporary philosophical research.Phenomenology has been concerned with the human body since its birth, and scholars such as Husserl,Heidegger,Merleau-Ponty etc.have all put forward their own views of Phenomenology. When the doctor-patient relationship is brought into the phenomenological field for analysis,it means that the analysis of the doctor-patient relationship has another philosophical perspective. The main characteristic of the contemporary doctor-patient relationship is the rapid development of medical technology.Medical staff can use high technology to instantly understand the physiological indicators of patients, and patients seem to be able to contact medical staff at any time either, which requires an increase in communication between doctors and patients, and doctors will have to pay more attention to patients at any time. With the improvement of living standards, patients’ demands for doctor-patient relationships are increasing, and their psychological needs for medical staff also are becoming more and more prominent.Under such a background,it is a breakthrough attempt to discuss how to improve the doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of Phenomenology. As an interdisciplinary paper on philosophy and psychology, this paper attempts to explore the essential and core impact of “pain” on the doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of Phenomenology, with theoretical analysis and case analysis as the main research methods. The main structure of the paper can be divided into two parts. The first part is mainly about the research progress of medicine, the investigation of the nature of medicine, and the historical evolution of the doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of Phenomenology.Firstly, modern medicine crisis is introduced to raise questions, and the research progress of medicine in China and abroad under the perspective of Phenomenology is briefly introduced. Then, the goal of medicine, the relationship between medicine and practice, and the relationship between medicine and phenomenology are introduced, and the historical evolution of the doctor-patient relationship is sorted out.The second part expounds on the core problem of “pain” from the perspective of Phenomenology and its enlightenment on the doctor-patient relationship. The problem of the nature of pain in disease is put forward first, and then the recognition of inevitable pain is discussed.Next, the article introduces the impact of pain on the doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of phenomenology and focuses on the enlightenment of pain on the doctor-patient relationship, such as understanding the "secondary thrown”,the subjectivity perspective, etc.
