With the advance of science and technology today,the interaction between them has become an important feature of research and development activities.The result of the interaction shortens the process of transforming science into technology application.Moreover,with the original technological innovation,it will promote to solve the scientific problems.This feature of science and technology interaction can be shown in an increasingly strong correlation between journal papers and patents.That is,there are a certain number of papers and patents on the same front topic in the same period,among which the more closing correlation is patents refer to papers,and even more papers' author and patents' inventor are the same person.This provides a method and a tool for intelligence analysis service to identify collaborative interaction of science and technology,to discover what scientific achievement has been applied to technology innovation,and what technology innovation has the ability to push a certain problem solved.This kind of technology innovation may have a significant breakthrough,or lead to a series of new technologies and economic growth point.Meanwhile,with the development of information mining technology,the front topic analysis methods and tools are developing rapidly,what allows for analyzing and mining a variety of data resources and probing into the content of scientific texts.For these many reasons,this paper puts forward the research topic of front topic analysis method based on the thesis-patent correlation.Beginning with the correlation of journal articles and patent analysis,the interaction between science and technology was analysed firstly.Then based on multiple data sets including highly cited papers and patents,citing papers and patents,and the follow-up research papers and patents,front subject clusters formed using diversified relationships including similarity text theme,quote,co-cotation,and the same author-inventor's subsequent papers or patents.Thirdly,from theme association,subject association and citing association between papers and patents,a front topics in science and technology interaction was found.And the three association relationships have been compared by specific meaning about science and technology interaction.Fourthly in the field of graphene,the feasibility analysis of the method was carried out.Finally,the reliability and application value of the analysis results are verified by the method of expert consultation.It is found that front topic analysis method based on thesis-patent correlation is a effective method to identify the front topics in the high-technology field where the interaction between science and technology is obvious.It answers the question of the interaction between science and technology from many angles.1)Subject association refers to two association relationships.One association is among persons who are meanwhile the paper author and the patent inventor.That represents a breakthrough in the collaborative development of science and technology,which can be seen that the similarity between the scientific topic and the technical topic between subject association is obviously higher than the similarity between the topic association.The other association is among organizations such as the enterprise and the institute.That reflects the integration of scientific research and technology development oriented by the enterprise,which can be seen that the scientific theme and technical theme involved by the enterprise are more closely connected.2)Citing association refers to papers cited by patents,which reflects the application of scientific research results to technology development.3)Theme association refers to the intersection between thesis and patents,which means the association excluding the above two types.This correlation reflects the widest range of the intersection between science and technology,but only indicates that scientific research and technology development in a certain area have been developed separately,but real interaction between science and technology is lack in fact.The analysis method of front topics based on thesis-patent correlation starts from the paper-patent correlation,systematically seeks the front topics in the interaction between science and technology,which optimized intelligence tools about front topics,and is a beneficial supplement in the front topic analysis method and application field.The method has been used in the field of graphene which answers who are research subjects to promote science and technology interaction,where is the research last point,how wide is the influence scope,and what is possible science and technology collaborative innovation subject.That work has certain novelty.This paper includes 23 figures,36 tables and 4 appendixes.
