Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to the cultivation of college students as well as their labor and labor education.General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the commendation conference of national model workers and advanced workers in April 2015.Opinions on Deepening Education and Teaching Reform to Comprehensively Improve the Quality of Compulsory Education and Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Colleges,Primary and Secondary Schools in the New Era were issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council in June 2019 and March 2020 respectively.All of these have demonstrated that the horn of the return of labor education has been blowing and the status and role of labor education has become more and more prominent.Therefore,the exploration,research,and construction of the labor education system for college students in the new era have become an important theoretical proposition and practical subject of talent training at present.This paper consists of introduction and five chapters.Chapter One,introduction,states mainly from the origin of the topic,research significance,research situation,research methods,research priorities and difficulties,innovation and other aspects.Chapter Two,from the theoretical horizon,sorts out the related concepts,theoretical basis,and the background of the times of labor education.The definition of labor and labor education is the primary issue to study the labor education of college students in the new era.This chapter first explains the research objects and clarifies the scope of research from the perspective of etymology and discipline,to continuously improve the research accuracy and depth of understanding.Then it traces the origin of labor from Marxist theory,inherits the essence of labor from the past leadership of the Communist Party of China and the blood of labor from the fine traditional Chinese culture.Chapter Three,serving as scientific connotation,expounds the important exposition,basic content,and distinctive characteristics of labor education in Xi Jinping’s Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era.The main contents of labor education for the new era include labor values,labor education,the development of labor and labor practice from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on labor education,and it also sums up the education of labor concept,labor habits,labor spirit and labor skills.Under this context,it shows the distinct characteristics of the combination of history and times,content and form,universality and particularity,and theory and practice,thus deeply demonstrating the spiritual essence and profound connotation of labor education for college students in the new era.Chapter Four,as the reality support,investigates and analyzes the current situation of labor education for college students in the new era.Only after investigation can we have a say in the labor education of college students.Only a realistic examination of the actual problem can make the research valuable and meaningful.This chapter makes an empirical research for ten thousands of students from more than 16 universities in Heilongjiang Province by carefully-designed questionnaires to review the problems.It manages to reflect the present reality and real performance of labor education for college students and explore the root causes from the perspectives of the country,society,university,family and individual,in order to make the mechanism of countermeasures more scientific,targeted and effective.Chapter Five pursues countermeasures and the practical path of carrying out labor education for college students.From theory to practice,from problems to countermeasures,labor education seeks in the final analysis of what to do and how to do.From the perspective of problem orientation,we should explore the answers from five dimensions including the country,society,university,family and individual.From the point of view of the objective orientation,labor education is not a temporary matter,but a major project for a hundred years.The purpose of labor education is to train people to shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation,and to form a labor education system for college students that the country,society,universities,families,and individuals participate in,contribute to and jointly construct.Chapter Six,as the value purport,reveals the objective fact that how the labor education develops.The reason why labor education for college students is carried out and what its significance is the origin of labor education,and it is the only way for its theoretical development and practical exploration.The labor education for college students in the new era has always carried out the fundamental task of cultivating morality,consolidated the foundation of social development,contributed to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,and promoted the all-round development of individuals.
