A Study On The Development Of Professional Social Work During The Republic Of China

From the reform and opening up, the Communist Party of China has shifted the focus from economic development to social construction. Social work is an important system and means in social construction, and in facts and experiences, the concept of professional social work, objectives and methods has played an irreplaceable coordination, service and social management role. Therefore, studying and promoting the development of social work has important theoretical and practical significance.Literature suggests that the current basic research in social work in China is relatively weak, most research has focused on academic reconstruction, while the systematic studies of professional social work in the Republic of China are little. In fact, professional social work has been initially established in the Republic of China, and the content and form are very rich, but because of war and natural disasters, coupled with the nation construction after founding, . so the development of professional social work was ignored. This dissertation is the first systematic research development of social work during the Republic of China. This dissertation mainly researches the formation mechanism focus on the emergence and development of professional social work elements during the Republic of China. The issues involved these problems:what art the development stages of professional social work in the Republic of China? What are the elements of professional social work? How generate of professional elements in the changing social environment? How construct each other of the social environment and professional elements?This article is divided into six chapters. Introduction chapter of this study introduces the origin, purpose, meaning, content and review of relevant research at home and abroad. The second chapter discusses the development process of the professional social work during the Republic of China; the social work development process is divided into three stages namely germination, rudiment and preliminary in this dissertation. This is the first attempt. Studies found that professional social work development process is the process of the emergence and mature of professional elements, that is the result of the construction of social workers, the clients and social environment. And found, the professional social work of the Republic of China is the product of the "local social work" and "localization of social work" together. The third chapter introduces the development of social work education during the Republic of China, this dissertation summarizes the development of social work in Church Universities in the Republic of China, and this is the first system and comprehensive study. The study found, the professional social work first appeared in the Church Universities in the Republic of China, and social work education and the social work practice developed parallel, the Church Universities has played a radiation role in promoting the prosperity of the modern social work in China. The fourth chapter describes the development of social work methods of the Republic of China, and mainly introduces the formation and the dynamic factors of case social work, group social work and administration social work. Studies found that the formation of social work methods is the result of the Western culture and the Chinese modern culture. Chapter fifth mainly introduces the development of social work practice during the Republic of China, and introduces the development, power factors, experience and the inadequate of industrial social work, rural social work, hospital social work, women and children social work, and the correction social work. The results show that the hospital was the most mature social work, the great large range that carried out was the rural social work, industrial social work and social work of women and children have initially developed but did not receive universal, and the correction social work is also in the bud. Chapter sixth summarizes the characteristics, experience and the shortage of the social work of the Republic of China, and gives the enlightenment thinking to the development of contemporary professional social work.
