Since the 1860 s,under the impact of Western capitalization and industrial civilization,Japan had undergone a Meiji Reform.From then on,Japan embarked on the road of developing capitalism and began the wave of industrialization.This reform made Japan the first Asian country to embark on the road of modern industrialization,which was an important turning point in Japan's modern history.During this reform,the cultural scholars advocated "civilization",social life began to be Europeanized,and westernized education was vigorously developed.The European art teaching style was transplanted to Japan's existing education system,from "he Hun Han Cai"(Japan spirit with Chinese Han Education)to "he Hun Yang Cai"(Japan spirit with Western Education).A large number of foreign students were sent abroad to study western painting,which promoted the reform movement in Japan.In this trend,the traditional Japanese painting arts declined,while the western oil painting and the emerging Japanese painting going on to the front stage.Until the launch of the “quintessence movement”,the traditional Japanese ink painting art,after more than ten years of desolation,came back to the stage of history;and became an important part of Japanese art,which enriched the new pattern of the development of modern Japanese art.It is in this social and historical background that;Tomioka Tessai,known as the last literati painter in Japan,lonely embarked on the road of artistic creation under this social and historical background.This paper takes the history as the main venation,investigating the art works and cultural activities of Tomioka Tessai,while he is in different historical stages of Japan.Through the investigation of Tomioka Tessai's paintings,artistic ideas,artistic exchanges,artistic activities,etc..This paper will seeking the creative causes and influence of these paintings.Then to explore the historical period of Tomioka based on a typological analysis and iconology research of the artistic style of him.Combining the life track of Tomioka Tessai,this paper will also comprehensively analyzes the era characteristics and cultural connotation contained in the artistic style of Tomioka Tessai,and tries to present the artistic style of Tomioka,so as to explore his artistic sparks development and characteristics of his masterpieces.In this study,the main visual media and research object are the paintings of Tomioka Tessai,and the typological research method is used as the specific method of this analysis.The research on the artistic style of Tomioka Tessai aims to solve the pedigree of the generation,development and evolution of the artistic style of him.Analyze the form and characteristics of Tomioka Tessai's paintings and its relationship with the social and cultural context;revealing wealth The main characteristics and cultural connotation of Tomioka Tessai 's artistic style;discuss the change of Tomioka Tessai 's artistic style and the significance of the current value.Through the study of the art style of Tomioka Tessai,it can be said that the traditional Japanese painting originated from Chinese painting,and it is a leaf of the same root of Chinese painting stem.The ancient Japanese paintings before the Meiji Restoration Movement in the 1860 s were mainly influenced by Chinese paintings,Thereafter,modern Japan was influenced by the West.In recent years,Japan and China have shared some common characteristics and development laws in the face of Western cultural emergency response..Japanese art is an important part of Asian art.The development of Japanese arts in the 19 th century is a unique model in the history of fine arts,which lays a foundation for us to understand the overall style of Japanese arts and establishes its position in the history of fine arts.
