Historical Memory And Contemporary Reconstruction Of Clan Etiquette

In traditional Chinese society,the concept of clan is deeply rooted.Especially in the rural society of North China in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the clan plays an important role in practicing state etiquette and maintaining local stability,it promotes the customs interaction between the state and the local society.Obviously,the clan elite plays an important role in this process.The Wang clan of Dadiaoqiao Village,10 kilometers northeast of Zichuan District in Luzhong,since the beginning of the ancestors Wang Gui moved to the early Ming Dynasty,The Wang clan attaches importance to education and construction,and has become a local famous clan by taking the imperial examinations,the local community even has such a reputation:"Number of imperial examinations in a county,The Wang clan accounts for half." In view of this,the Wang family organization is constantly being constructed and has an important influence in the local society,although it has fluctuated in different social periods during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.For this phenomenon,this article will be interpreted from the perspective of "Customs Interaction".The author thinks,Clan is a result of interaction between etiquette and customs in traditional Chinese society,and it is an intermediary that connects the national etiquette system with the local people.This paper analyzes from the perspective of customs interaction,which will help to explore the historical tradition,cultural implication and operation mode of rural families,and more accurately recognize the cultural characteristics and time mechanism of Chinese grassroots society.In view of this,this article takes the case of the Wang clan of Datunqiao Village in Luzhong District as a case study.The paper is divided into four chapters:Chapter One:Zichuan "Diaoqianwang" Zichuan County is located in the middle of Shandong Province.Spring and Autumn Perio,it is adjacent to Qi State and Lu State.Since ancient times,it has attached importance to Confucian tradition.The Wang clan of Dadiaoqiao Village is based on the rich cultural traditions of Zichuan.With the help of the cultural and educational rejuvenation carried out by the state power in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,it emerged as a famous family of imperial examinations.While paying attention to the historical evolution of the regional society and cultural traditions,this chapter studies the spatial geography and daily life scenes of the Dadiaoqiao Village where the Wang clan is located.Chapter Two:The historical memory of the family.Successfully started from Wang Chongyi's exam.The Wang clan has successively passed many exams,which has opened up the clan's prosperity.Because the Wang family has a very prolific history,both in the county annals and in the local literati works,there are many records of the development of the Wang family.Therefore,this chapter is mainly to study the development of the Wang clan,trying to present its historical facts.Chapter Three:The Symbol and Expression of Family Tradition.With the success of the imperial examinations in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,the Wang clan of Dadiaoqiao Village built many cultural symbols in the local society through its accumulated wealth and prestige,such as the unprecedented cemetery,ancestral hall,ancestor ritual,Sacrifice land and legends.Through a detailed analysis of the above-mentioned cultural symbolic images,this chapter reveals the efforts of the Wang clan to maintain their influence on local society after their glory.Chapter Four:Contemporary Efforts for Family Rejuvenation.Focusing on the practical activities of the Wang clan in the contemporary Dadiaoqiao Village to try to revitalize the family's glorious traditions,such as the origin of the ancestors,the compilation of genealogy,the outreach of the ethnic group,etc,and analysis of the role play of family knowledge elites.At the same time,it tries to analyze the above-mentioned practical activities in the context of today's society,and believes that it forms a complementary relationship with the rural revitalization strategy from the top down.It is a new manifestation of the customs interaction tradition of Chinese social.
