In the modern age, museums are not only a historical, cultural, and a public space for exhibition, education, and leisure activities, but they are also an important part of cultural democracy with public service at its foundation.Traditional medical museums are in crisis largely due to the lack of public support. This research focuses on how to popularize medical museums as a public institution. In this current era of misinformation, museums play an indisputably critical role in public health education. In this work,we will explore using art and aesthetic principles to transform outdated medical museums, thus improving their popularity and public health education function. The dissertation is divided into six sections.First,we examine the history of medicine and medical museums, particularly in Europe and America, including medical heritage, specimen collection, preservation, and medical education.Next,we consider the origin of art and its intimate relationship with medical practice, and analyze the historical contribution of art to the development, progress, and inheritance of medicine, and the healing effects of art and museum therapy on human physical and mental illness.Using Marshall Mc Luhan's theory “The Medium is the Message,” we explore technology's impact on museum practice, specifically the effect of digital mediums on museum popularity and the dissemination of medical knowledge to the public. We also discuss how to incorporate art and aesthetic concepts into the design of exhibits and exhibition spaces, and explore the use of multimedia, digital technology, and artificial intelligence to enhance the attractiveness of the medical museum. We review public health education in medical museums and how it can be incorporated into the vibrant future learning system. In light of recombinant education theory,we provide evidence to support the irreplaceable role of medical museums in public health education.Strategies on how to transform medical museums with improved publicity using art and technology are also discussed in the context of Bourdieu's cultural reproduction theory.Better publicity will improve public attendance to the museum, thereby breaking the existing cultural divisions, and the cross-discipline integration of art and medicine will greatly promote the process of democratization of health education and cultural equality. From the perspective of Lefebvre's production of social space theory,we introduce the new concept of Great Art Medicine Museum and explain its potential role in promoting public health and community well-being.The purpose of the research is to provide a theoretical framework for the reformation of medical museums and to innovate public health education.
