The stained glass windows of the Basilica of Saint-Denis are the result of the collision of historical events such as religion, politics, and culture in the Middle Ages. There are limits to understanding the art of this period only by linear historical concepts. Therefore,it is necessary to reinterpret the design and style of stained glass windows of Basilica of Saint-Denis in the 12 th century from the perspective of nonlinear historical concept and interdisciplinary perspective,as well as the research done by scholars in the past. These glass windows, which are the first to show the narrative of the Bible, are a comprehensive expression of religious reforms, changes in secular kingship, and traditional Glass Process. The reform of the religious system will not directly lead to the emergence of a new artistic style, but the constraints of the social environment make the Abbot Suger try to find an artistic expression that is different from the past but based on traditional theological ideas. In addition,as a royal monastery, the stained glass windows of Saint Denis catered to the French royal family in terms of presentation and decoration, trying to link secular imperial power with Christ's gifted imperial power through stained glass windows to achieve the purpose of consolidating the monarchy. The artisans recruited from all over Europe by Abbot Suger were restricted by the religious environment and the requirements of the patrons, but they still applied their own artistic traditions and aesthetics. Therefore,in front of contemporary researchers, the stained glass windows of St.Dennis' s Church are not only symbolic works in the iconography, but also different works composed of religious feelings at the time of creation, researchers' memory of the researchers and the three staggered periods of time known, thought and feeling by the present viewer.
