Research On The Design Method Of "Space With Path" In Architecture

In the contemporary context of Chinese architecture,the “path” is often simply comprehended as a functional organization of circulation due to the lack of design research and fragmentation of corresponding methods,which frequently neglects the excavation of human perception and the spirit of place.This paper attempts to rethink and diagnose the relationship between spatial organization and path formulation by taking the relevant research between space and path as the starting point.From the layer of the design method,the research clarifies the academic and applicable significance of path on the expansion of spatial connotation,the enhancement of spatial perception and the representation of space scenario.This paper explores four aspects: system construction,analysis and combination of physical elements,impact analysis of behavioural perception,and corresponding design methods.System construction: combing the existing form and significance in history,analyzing its general form in architecture by utilizing comparative analysis,case analysis etc,then clarifying the constituent elements on this basis.Systematic analysis and combination of physical elements: interpreting the physical elements from both phenomenal and literal layers by diagram analysis and case analogy.Impact analysis of behavioural perception: discussing the significance of path on human behavioural perception from ritual and daily life perspectives.It establishes the relationship between the physical elements and behavioural perception by means of isovist view analysis,carries out quantitative simulation through digitalization and visualization,then compares the difference of visual perception by modifying elements and corresponding organization methods.Generating model and corresponding design methods: demonstrating the variations of preset and generative design,deliberating the properties of directivity and uncertainty,constructing the generating model of “space with path”.Coping with the structural control of element combination and the specific element-oriented design,this paper proposes a method both subjective yet objective,which differs from the traditional architectural design.The innovative results mainly reflect on the three following aspects.Firstly,this paper discusses the relationship between architectural space and path from the aspects of physical elements and behavioural perception,constructing a “space with path”system on the basis of three relevant pairs,which are continuity and discontinuity,ritual and daily life,directivity and uncertainty.Secondly,it transforms several analysis methods including Isovist view analysis,diagram analysis and case analysis etc,correlates the physical carrier of the objective space with the path experience of human,the subject of spatial movement.Based on digitization and visualization,a "space with path" analysis method system is established.Finally,this paper aims to construct the "space with path" generative model by combining subjectivity and objectivity,qualitative and quantitative methods.Through the deliberation on the specific application of the model,this paper proposes a design method that pays more attention to the perceptual experience,which promisingly promotes architectural design to a broader horizon.
