Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation presents a study of an integrated computing environment in chemical process engineering. An innovative method based on Object-oriented programming technology is proposed that achieves easy system integration with new computer technology without modifying existing engineering analysis and design programs. An Object-oriented view of existing programs and data objects is built while the view of conventional programming world is preserved. Both views are linked by mapping the objects after abstraction is applied to conventional objects. The integration is performed in the Object-oriented view without affecting the conventional view. The concept is described and successfully demonstrated in the chemical process engineering problems.
