Abstract/Summary:
This qualitative study has two main purposes: to determine if (a) transformational leaders acknowledge a personal spiritual, or religious affiliation; and (b) transformational leaders recognize that their voice creates work standards, principles, and environment.;A 35 question survey, mailed to 250 Washington State elected and appointed officials, business executive officers, and community sages asked: (a) Do survey participants have religious or spiritual affiliations; and if so, will they state them? (b) Can, and will, survey participants specifically articulate their work related leadership values, and ethic of care? (c) To what degree do leaders acknowledge their personal voices create or sustain the work environment? (d) What are proactive management principles? (e) To what degree do leaders' voices create standards and principles?;Analysis of composite responses led to these findings: (a) A transformational leader's voice cannot be greater than the sum of each employee's voice; leadership is a fluid consciousness that mentors, motivates, and summons the work community to produce, with excellence; (b) Transformational leaders' spiritual or religious affiliations underscore their visions and ethics of care; apprehending their personal and collective voices, congealing collaborative consciousness, and exciting through insight; (c) Leadership Voices(TM) are the synchronized energetic vibrations of the work community, incorporating diverse personal core values orchestrated by proactive management principles; (d) Proactive management goes beyond honesty and sincerity, requiring discipline, balance, dominion, and congruence between core values and actions; (e) Transformational leaders must comprehend that they, and those to whom they delegate administrative authority, create their core values in the work environment.
