| The primary purpose of this study was to examine the effects of using Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant captioned instructional digital video on learning outcomes when the user does not require video captioning due to a hearing impairment. The second purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of using ADA-compliant captioned instructional digital video on learning outcomes when the user perceives captioning as a distraction. The participants in this study consisted of 228 Mississippi State University students enrolled in 12 sections of TKT 1273 Microcomputers in Education offered by the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership, and Workforce Development. The main statistical procedures used to analyze data in this study were analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and descriptive statistics. Results were considered significant at the .05 level. The findings of this study indicated that ADA-compliant captioning does not have an impact on learning outcomes. |
