Abstract/Summary:
This study investigated the differences in the amount of information presented in academic librarian print and listserv job ads. Using content analysis, the information presented in the ads was compared using t-tests and chi-square inferential statistics. The sample of 443 print ads was selected from three professional librarian publications. The sample of 181 listserv ads was selected from eight library related listservs. The ads were published between February and July, 2004.; The data from this sample indicate, with statistical significance, that print ads appeared more often than listserv ads, but listserv ads contained more information than the print ads. Job seekers and researchers both need to consider all forums of position advertisements in future analysis of academic librarian positions.
