Abstract/Summary:
Animation is an added feature to web sites that can take different shapes and forms. To many, animation is considered to be confusing and distracting. At the same time others argue that animation can add to the playfulness (attractiveness) of web pages. The same people add that animation can serve different purposes if the design, technological, and cultural aspects are taken into consideration when adding animation to web sites.; Web animation is a new field; therefore, the studies that address web animation are not fully developed yet. Moreover, there have not been studies developed that provide a systematic approach to guide web developers through planning, designing, and implementing of web animation on web sites. The purpose of this field project is to attempt to fill this void. It is essentially to develop a web animation model that may serve as a guide through the planning, designing, and implementation phases of web animation. The approach of the web animation model will be along the framework of a model widely used in computer programming and systems development known as the Systems Development Life Cycle (or SDLC). The web animation model will address various technological characteristics, design factors, and cultural attributes that might be considered when adding animation to web pages.
