It is carefully examining its context, rethinking its purpose, and refining its strategy so as to translate the truth of the gospel as good news for the society to which we have been sent.; For this reason, the Greenwich Vineyard Church desires to be a missional Kingdom community of authentic followers of Jesus for the sake of the world. This paper has argued that a missional Kingdom community is an authentic community of people living differently, with Christianity as an alternative basis for living, and not just a set of propositional beliefs, facts, statements, or laws. As this has been demonstrated, this becomes a powerful apologetic, a defense for the gospel, for the Postmodern culture in which we find ourselves. There is no truth except that expressed in community according to the Postmodern way of thinking. To access truth one has to be involved in an authentic life changing community who are apprenticed to Jesus. Our community is committed to an inward journey of life transformation into the image of Jesus and an outward journey of following Jesus; that is, being a sent people into the world that is loved by our Father. Therefore, we must order our lives around a missionary encounter with the world and help each other do the same.; Greenwich Vineyard wants to be aware of these cultural shifts so we can think like missionaries during these times and influence our world with the gospel of Jesus Christ in a contextually sensitive and theologically informed way. This paper is about rethinking our identity, purpose, and ministry initiative at Greenwich Vineyard Church. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Greenwich vineyard church, Missional kingdom community, Authentic followers, Jesus | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
