Abstract/Summary:
The federal government has mandated that certain types of small businesses be considered “small business preferences” through the Small Business Act. The Act recognizes that certain types of small business ownership require assistance in order to compete in the procurement arena.;The purpose of this dissertation is to examine potential hurdles associated with WOSBs in the government procurement marketplace. A study was conducted to uncover potential barriers associated with WOSBs' readiness, willingness, and ability to be a player in the government contracting arena. The dissertation is concluded with a discussion of data findings; as well as, implications for future research.
