Abstract/Summary:
The following research utilized archival data to complete a program evaluation of a sex offender treatment program. The study aimed to predict treatment success among 70 participants, 23 adolescents and 48 adults, who were court ordered to a sex offender treatment program, using the psychopathic deviate and social introversion scores from the MMPI-A and MMPI-2. All court- ordered subjects who were administered either the MMPI-A or the MMPI-2 were included in this study. A multiple linear regression was conducted for both the juvenile and adult groups. The overall regression model was not significant, indicating that scores on the psychopathic deviate and social introversion have no explanatory power on treatment success. There was a low-correlation and weak relationship between psychopathic deviate and social introversion to treatment outcome, further indicating that both are not supported predictors of treatment outcome and treatment success. The study contained limits pertaining to the existing archival data, including a small and unequal subject number for each group. An application of more participants, predictors, and measurements are highly suggested in evaluating a sex offender treatment program.
