Low voltage power line carrier communication is a kind of communication mode for voice and data transmission via power line. It has been used widely in intelligent electric energy data acquisition system. However, the communication performance of low voltage power line carrier communication is severely affected by the power line environment in high noise, impedance mismatch, transmission loss, time-varying interference and other factors. Due to the lack of a thorough research to the low-voltage power line channel characteristics, the reliable evidence in the formulation of standards and technology selection is absent and the stability and reliability of the communication system cannot be guaranteed.The evaluation technology for low-voltage power line carrier communication is studied in the paper. And the paper focuses on the topic of the relationship between communication and advanced metering infrastructure, extraction and analysis of the actual operation parameters, evaluation model and method of communication. The main academic contributions are as follows:1. The advanced metering infrastructure in the Internet of Things is introduced. It is divided into perception-interactive-layer, network transmission laye and application services layer from bottom to top. The information sensing technology for perception-interactive-layer, communication technology for network transmission laye and information gathering, processing and display technology for application services layer are studied in depth.The position and function of the power line carrier communication system is clear to lay the foundations for the evaluation technology of the power line carrier communication system.2. The channel characteristics of the low-voltage power line carrier communication, characteristic parameters of typical grid environment and load equipment, the corresponding time-varying noise and fading channel model are studied to provide basis for the channel characteristics and communication performance evaluation.3. The simulaton of the power line carrier communication channel and the performace evalution for the carrier communication are studied. The test system for the intelligent meter and terminal device is estabilished. The test system can realise the comprehensive test and evaluation of communication on the performance of carrier equipment by the simulation of low voltage power line communication channel environment.4. The application of evaluation system for low voltage power line carrier communication is carried out. The simulation analysis of the noise characteristic, the transmission characteristic and communication data based on the channel mode is done. The carrier communication performance of electric information acquisition equipment is effectively assessed through the atual characteristics test of communication channel and the transmission experimental of signal waveform.The research results have been applied to the performance evaluation for intelligent electricity communication equipment in China Southern Power Grid. And it provides technical support for reliable communication to associated equipment.
