The purpose of the dissertation is to find out to what extent the students feel satisfied on teaching Myanmar Literature in Myanmar higher education as a compulsory course.And to know which kind of students feel more satisfaction than their peers.It means to observe that whether there has any connection between their study fields,grade point assessment their gender and so forth.In Myanmar,literature is regarded as an important player to maintain indigenous cultural beliefs and national pride and Myanmar literature is a common tool and Myanmar official language as well.Generally literature curriculum has two parts of language and art and both are related to reading,use of language,usage and productivity of vocabulary,knowledge of abstract concept,using of advanced rhetorical devices,and the ability of properly describing emotional and social status.But teaching Myanmar Literature in higher education is more complicated than these issues.Teaching Myanmar Literature has some additional aims like disseminating Myanmar cultures,raising civic and national pride,teaching moral and ethical issues and so forth.Students' satisfaction with university or curriculum is very complicated and it is a highly debated topic among scholars.Apparently there have four variables student-content student-instructor,student-student,and student-technology.Here student-content student-instructor,student-assessments and students' demographic and personal factors are included to observe the interaction.But the dissertation focuses on students' satisfaction with a specific curriculum.Hence,student-content,student-instructor,students' personal factors and characteristics and student-assessment system were utilized to investigate student satisfaction.Conducting surveyed questionnaires and outcomes of the students' from tutorials and examinations(educational transcripts)are the instruments of the research used for collecting data.During the process,the quantitative data and qualitative data were accumulated through the surveyed questionnaire conducted in the classrooms of Myanmar universities and college and the averaging of school official grade points.In questionnaires,it is used 5-point Likert scale to measure the student satisfaction.The participants were 1030 students for quantitative data and 25 students for qualitative data from selected universities of Myanmar.All of the surveys were conducted in their related universities' classroomsThe study reveals that for student satisfaction all of the parts such as instruction,curriculum,assessment and the generic skills they acquired from the course are equally important to affect and here it is investigated that in which portion the students feel more satisfied and in which part the students feel less satisfied.And which variables affected the satisfaction of the students and the relationship between the variables and student satisfaction were investigated.In accordance with the research findings,teaching Myanmar Literature in higher education was highly satisfied by the students though they took this course for being it is a compulsory subject for them.Finding also showed that female students were more satisfied than males.And it is discovered that the students with higher academic achievements had the higher level of satisfaction.Again,it is found out to be that the natural science students had the highest level of satisfaction,arts students had the second highest level of satisfaction,the literature and language students had the second lowest level of satisfaction,and the applied science students had the lowest level of satisfaction.After that,it is found out to have the correlations between the variables of students' gender,students' academic performance,students' study field and student satisfaction.The administrative persons of Myanmar universities and Myanmar literature teachers may read this dissertation to know the students' satisfaction and they will acquire the information of whether they are flawless or weak and this information will be able to lead them to repair their weaknesses.Further research can conduct about the student satisfaction on the other specific areas such as compulsory English courses or about the satisfaction of specific universities.This study is very original in the investigating of student satisfaction of teaching Myanmar literature in Myanmar higher education.And also found out that the extent to which students feel satisfied in teaching Myanmar Literature and the relations of student satisfaction with students' gender,student academic achievement,and students' specialization.Hopefully,the findings of this study will be able to know the students' opinion on teaching Myanmar literature and the instructors and university academy bodies will be able to know their weakness and to repair it A study like this will make much advantages to every organization and institutions all over the world,so that to build the satisfaction of students more and more and to implement a successful curriculum.
