This dissertation takes the reform of examination questions assigning of Gaokao in China as the core issue.Through the comprehensive use of historical analysis,literature analysis,comparative analysis,interviews and other methods,it not only focuses on the history of the reform of the organized way of examination questions assigning,but also elaborates on the change of examination content under the change of the way in ancient and modern times in China and abroad.In addition,some theoretical issues of examination questions assigning of Gaokao are discussed.If the introduction and the conclusions are included,this dissertation is divided into 8 parts.The introduction firstly elaborates on the questions,the general situation and the significance of the study,then defines the related concepts and then explaines the framework and the study methods of the dissertation.The first chapter examines the reform process of the examination questions assigning system of Keju,which is similar to Gaokao,in the past one thousand years from the Sui and the Tang Dynasties to the Ming and the Qing Dynasties.This part mainly analyzes the development of the organized way of examination questions assigning,examination the subjects and the difficulty of the imperial examination.The second chapter reviews the reform of the organized way of examination questions assigning and the content of college entrance examination in the period of the Republic of China.This part takes it as the main line of the reform that the organized way of examination questions assigning system of national and public university and college entrance examination is transformed between the dispersed one and the unified one.And then it examines the evolution of examination subjects,the way of examination papers setting,techniques of questions assigning,types of questions,and intention of questions assigning,etc.The third chapter reviews the evolution of the examination questions assigning system of the college and university entrance examination since the founding of the People's Republic of China.This part mainly includes the reform of the organized way of examination questions assigning and the adjustment and evolution of the examination content of Gaokao which are both starting from the foundation of PRC,and the autonomous enrollment of university which began early in the 21st century.The fourth chapter explores the evolution of the organized way of questions assigning of college and university entrance examination in the United States,Japan and Chinese Taiwan,and focuses on the changes of examination subjects and the content of examination of SAT and ACT in the United States,National Center for College Entrance Examination in Japan and Joint College Examination in Taiwan,in which examination questions assigning are all organized in the unified way.The fifth chapter shows the current situation of the reform of examination questions assigning system of Gaokao.It not only includes the implementation of the provincially organized way and the nationally organized way,but also includes the setting of such as test subjects,test syllabus,test papers,and test questions,which are all related to the content of the examination.The sixth chapter expounds some of the theoretical issues involved in examination questions assigning of Gaokao,focusing on the discussionof the basic principles of questions assigning of Gaokao,such as the high efficiency,the fairness,and the scientificity and so on from the theoretical perspective of the relevant disciplines.Through these systematic studies above,this dissertation has got several main conclusions about the reform of examination questions assigning of Gaokao in China.Firstly,the reform of the way,by which examination questions assigning of Gaokao is organized between provincially and nationally,is comprehensively influenced by factors such as the cultural tradition of the examination,the form of the state structure,the law of the development of examination,and the requirements for running a university or college.Secondly,it is in line with the general trencd of the reform of college and university entrance examination w.orldwide that the development of the organized way of examination questions assigning of Gaokao is from unclassified and unified one to classified and different ones.Thirdly,the combination of Gaokao and the autonomous enrollment of university is in harmony with the mode of the unified organized way of examination questions assigning + the independently organized way of examination questions assigning of autonomous enrollment of college and university" worldwide.Fourthly,the examination content of every organized way of questions assigning of college and university entrance examination is relatively unique and different from others.Fifthly,all college and university entrance examinations with different organized ways of questions assigning can lead to exam-oriented education in the middle schools.
