A Study Of Alai's Novel "Epic Of Ji Village"

The main object of study is the full-length novel the Epic of Ji Village,written by the contemporary Tibetan writer Alai.The Epic of Ji Village is the second novel of Alai's.It is formerly known as the Hollow Mountain and Hollow Mountain:Ji Village Legend.Alai has changed the name to the Epic of Ji Village in the fourth edition of the novel published in January,2018.The Epic of Ji Village has put six novellas and twelve short stories together.Alai described the historical change of the Tibetan village named Ji for nearly fifty years after the establishment of People's Republic of China in seven hundred and fifty thousand words.The word Ji means seed and root in Jiarong Tibetan language,reflects the inner logical link between Ji Village and the Jiarong Tibetan village where Alai grew up.This thesis is divided into four chapters,and then have made a comprehensive and in-depth study of the Epic of Ji Village from the name,structure,the logic of the internal plot,the principles of portrayal and the writing characteristics of the rural history.The research focuses on the following aspects:Firstly,What the specific influence of Alai's conception of history,rural view and realistic creation on the form and content of the Epic of Ji Village.Secondly,compared with the rural novels at the same time,the similarities and differences in the writing of the rural history in the Epic of Ji Village and the internal motivation of the difference between the Epic of Ji Village and these novels.The first chapter discusses the naming of the Epic of Ji Village.Through the analysis of the naming connotation,the naming and modifying trend and the author's view of creation in the process of republication.The following aspects are clarified:First,the title changing in republication of the novel is to clearly convey the theme of country history in the title and realism in the rural writing.Second,the meaning of the nomenclature of the Epic of Ji Village embodies the important influence of folk literature on the creation of the Epic of Ji Village,Alai's realistic historical idea.Third,Alai wants to grasp the country fifty years of history and reality,as far as possible writing demands of various people and things written in villages,confirm two major principles of creation epic are constructing the narrative basis with the development of the times and showing the rural landscape with the characterization.Chapter Two expounds the structure of a long novel composed of Chinese and short stories the Epic of Ji JVillage from three aspects of the structure,the inner unity of the structure and the naming of the structure.By summarizing the structural features and comparing with the novels with similar structures,it is considered that the core of the structure of the epic is the inherent unity of narration,that is,the internal clues of all parts of the novel.Therefore,the proper name for the structure of the Epic of Ji Village is tandem type rather than the petal and fragment type.The inner unity structure of the Epic of Ji Village is the constant space around the Ji Village.Each one has the continuous development of timing,the conduct,etc.from the narrative of the novels.It is mainly about the common principles of interpersonal communication and the natural view of harmonious coexistence.Secondly,analyzing the ways to reflect the modern experience of the Tibetan and rural areas in the Epic of Ji Village from the following points:the legal order of the state's impact on rural old rite order,the influence of modern knowledge of cognitive way of rural people,and the influence of commodity economy on rural production and life style and the influence of commodity economy on rural production and life style.Finally,starting from the characters in the Epic of Ji Village,we sort out their different coping styles in the process of rural modernization,and examine how to describe the modernization process in the Epic of Ji Village and how it affects the people in the countryside.In this chapter,using some theories and concepts in sociology to help examine the influence of the village tradition and the modernization process on the traditional Ji Village society.Chapter four summarizes the main features of the book writing in the Epic of Ji Village from a macro perspective.At the same time in
