Explanations Of Difficult Words In Pre-song Taoist Scriptures

Taoism was once prosperous and played an important role in the history.Taoist priests have created large numbers of Taoist Scriptures.However,the exegetical study on Taoist scriptures has been neglected in academia for a long time,except for a slight change in recent years.There are numerous new words as well as puzzling characters and words in more than 1500 Taoist scriptures,which have the significant value of language research.The study on explanations of these words is still quite inadequate,which makes it an urgent work.This paper makes detailed explanations of the difficult words of Taoist scriptures in pre-Song(?)dynasties.The content is as follows:1.The scope of Taoist scriptures in pre-Song(?)dynasties.The exegesis of Lao Zi,Zhuang Zi,Wen Zi,Lie Zi and medical documents in the Taoist are excluded.2.The cohort analysis of Taoist scriptures by comparing them with Dunhuang manuscripts,Taoist encyclopaedias and bibliography.3.Research Summary.This part makes a comprehensive review on more than 260 documents,clarifies the development of relevant researches,and focuses on analyzing some important works.4.Research value.This part makes an analysis of the value of Taoist scriptures in pre-Song(?)dynasties from both perspectives of philology and exegetics.It is beneficial to the philological study of Taoist scriptures and can make up for the inaccuracies of dictionaries.5.Research methods.This part summarizes the research methods with specific examples,including rectifying characters,listing variant versions,obtaining meanings through pronunciation and seeking for the allusions.6.Explanations.On the basis of works by predecessors,this part makes detailed explanations of folk characters and difficult words through above methods.
