Objective:To construct the Five Minds theory of TCM,and explore the clinical value of the Five Minds theory of TCM.Methods:In this paper, the traditional literature research method and literature review method are used to collect relevant data, and Qi,Yin-Yang,Five Elements of TCM are used as reasoning tools to screen, organize, extract, analyze and conclude the collected data. The systematic and in-depth research is carried out on the Mind and Five Minds of TCM,and the clinical application of the Five Minds theory of TCM is demonstrated.Result:1 By tracing back to the source of Mind, clarifies the original meaning and citation meaning of Mind in order to refine the meaning of Mind, namely,Mind is the intentional psychological process formed on the basis of the accumulation of recollection.2 Through the study of the Mind in TCM,this paper puts forward the idea of Minds of five spirits and concludes the relationship between Minds and Noumenon,i.e."Qi is the noumenon,Qi produces Mind.By making use of Mind,Mind can be the governor of Qi".This paper explains the characteristics of "storage of Mind",the function of "storage" and "process",and comes up with the idea that Mind has the nature of absorbing down, storing and rising, the function of memory and processing cognition, and the process of mental memory and processing cognition, which is the core link of the dynamic thinking process of the body.In this paper, the author explores the deep connotation of kidney storing Mind, holds the view that Mind belongs to the invisible physiological function of kidney, and puts forward the connotation of kidney promoting mind and mind regulating kidney. It explains that the life significance of the combination of Mind and mental activities, which has a impact on controlling the spirit, collecting the soul, adapting to cold and warm, and reconciling seven emotions.3 Through the study of the Five Minds of TCM,this chapter demonstrates that Five Minds are the evolution products of the Mind on the functional level,Five Minds are the gasification function of the five internal organs in spatio-temporal evolution of Yuan Qi,and the Five Minds are hidden in the five internal organs. It finds out the functional characteristics of Five Minds, which is considered that Five Minds have the directivity, and Five Minds regulate the Qi of the five internal organs. This paper also illustrates the relationship of inter-promotion and inter-restriction in Five Minds, the laws of Five Minds promotion and restriction,Five Minds mutual storage,thought-mind adjustment and balance are the deep mechanism of the emotional activities. It explores the spirit-mind-emotion relationship of that mind governs Five Minds,Five Minds governs seven emotions, and summarizes four diseases and syndromes of Five Minds. In addition, this paper discusses that Five Minds are include joy, rage, contemplation, worry(grief)and fear, while startle is included in seven emotions but not in Five Minds.Among Five Minds, lung occupies worry and grief,"excessive Five Minds transforming into fire " to release the five internal organs and five fire disease and other issues.Conclusion:1 Mind has the original meaning of the direction of the mind, the consciousness of the Mind and the emotion of the Mind,so as to extract that the Mind is an intentional psychological process formed on the basis of the accumulation of memories, and it belongs to people's spiritual consciousness thinking activities.2 TCM mind, namely mind, one of the five spirits, also known as kidney spirit, and it exists the mind and Qi relationship between Noumenon and function with Qi,i.e."Qi is the noumenon,Qi produces Mind.By making use of Mind,Mind can be the governor of Qi",and it has the characteristics and functions of "the reservation of consciousness" and "Mind causes processes".Mind is hidden in the kidney, which embodies the body and spirit connotation of kidney promoting mind and mind regulating kidney. It is consistent with the mental activity, and has the life significance of "controlling the spirit ","collecting the soul","adapting to cold and war",and "reconciling joy and rage".3 The Five Minds of TCM are the combination of joy, rage, contemplation, worry(grief)and fear, and the psychological process of expressing seven emotions and five minds under the guidance of intention.Five Minds are the gasification function of the five Zang-organs in spatio-temporal evolution of Yuan Qi,and are hidden in the five Zang-organs.It has the characteristics of joy slackening Qi and driving Qi to flow downwards, rage driving Qi to flow upwards, contemplation binding Qi,worry joining Qi,grief dispersing Qi,fear driving Qi to flow downwards.4 This five elements theory is used to explain the inter-promotion and inter-restriction of Five Minds, that is,rage generating joy, fear dominating over joy,and the promotion and restriction of attaining joy;fear generating rage, worry(grief)dominating over rage, and the promotion and restriction of attaining rage;joy generating contemplation, rage dominating over contemplation, and the promotion and restriction of attaining contemplation;contemplation generating worry(grief),joy dominating over worry(grief),and the promotion and restriction of attaining worry(grief);Worry(grief)generating fear, contemplation dominating over fear, and the promotion and restriction of attaining fear.It puts forward the Five Minds mutual storage and the adjustment balance of thought-mind.They two adjust in coordination with seven emotions and five minds changes, and maintain the complexity and stability of seven emotions and five minds activities. It is the deep mechanism of seven emotions and five minds activities.
