Research On The Four Kinds Of Physiques Theories And The Supplementary Quantitative Discriminant Standard

Objective:1.Try to find the real meaning and discriminant standard of � the Four Kinds of Physiques�2.To find if the lower extremety fat mass an intelligible method to help people distinguish Gaoren,Zhiren,and Rouren,as well as its sensitivity,specifility,and checkability.Methods:Based on the Chinese exegetics,Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ancient Chinese Philosophy,combined Systemic Anatomy,Regional Anatomy,Histology and Biochemistry to read �Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicne�,trying to find the definition,practical application value.The data should be carefully checked and the four physiques would be checked over by experts.The ROC curve and Youden's Index were used.The supplementary discriminant standard were used to test those people that were not easy to difine.Then we test if the index could help us define the physiques.Enter all results to EXCEL database,and use version of SPSS17.0 statistical software for statistical analysis.Results:1.The theory of �the Four Kinds of Physiques�is unique in distinguish fat people.It can help us understand the physiology and pathology of human body,such as Qi and Xue.It is also an important guidance for preventing and treating diseases.We can find scientific evidence in Anatomy,Histology,Biology and Endocrinology.The theory may help promoting the research of Obesity and Constitution Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine;2.The classification of Four Kinds of Physiques is used to name fat and thin as well as normal people,Devided by the compilation difference of adipose tissue.Gaoren may be more like Abdominal Obesity.Zhiren tend to be thin.Rouren may be more like Systemic Obesity.Zhongren tend to be healty people.3.The characteristic of �Gaoren� is loose skin,weak and soft muscles.While �Zhiren� is marked by eminent muscles and thick skin.The skin of �Rouren� is inseparable from muscles.We may find the skeletal muscular septum of �Zhiren� but may not find them in �Gaoren� and �Rouren�.The characteristic of Gaoren is loose of adipose tissue beneath the skin.the characteristic of Zhiren is tight of adipose tissue beneath the skin.The characteristic of Rouren is of no obvious boundary between adipose tissue beneath the skin and the skeletal muscle tissue.We can probably distinguish them by palpate adipose tissue and skeletal muscle tissue of foream and calf,as well as the abdomen.4.To help people understand �San Xing Ren�,we can probably rename �Gaoren�as loose abdomen(like snowman),�Zhiren�as compacted body(Compact things are small or take up very little space,like models),�Rouren�as Hypertrophy(take up large space,like Michelin Man).5.The boundary value of the four physiques as for the lower exremety fat mass on the right were:2.05,2.25.3.05.The sensitivity,specifility,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and checkability were all above 67%,74%,72%,48%,85%.This index can increase the diagnostic rate of the four physique to 83.1% based on 37.4%.Conclusion:1.�Gaoren� are thin people,it is not a type of obesity.2.�Zhiren�,�Gaoren�,�Rouren� are abnormal physiques,we should pay attention to identify them and treat them as the intervention object of �zhiweibing�.3.The diagnosis of "�the four physiques� " has the characteristics of "being in the heart,difficult to be clear",and the clinical diagnosis rate is low.4.The fat mass of the lower extremeties can be a good supplementary diagnostic index to distinguish the �the four physiques�.
