With the rapid development of urbanization,the energy and resources consumed by buildings have increased dramatically,which lead to more serious problems for urban energy and environment.Low-energy architectural design has become the necessity condition of urban sustainable development.The courtyard buildings have good climate adaptability to not only alleviate the effects of urban heat island,but also adjust indoor environment and reduce building energy consumption.However,the mechanism of the relationships between courtyard design parameters and courtyard building energy consumption is not clear,especially which factors are the key design parameters.This problem may lead to unexpected high energy consumption for courtyard buildings due to inappropriate building design.The aim of this paper is to investigate the effects of courtyard design parameters on the energy performance of office courtyard buildings in the region of hot-summer cold-winter climate of China.From the three aspects(layout,shape and envelope design),a variety of global sensitivity analysis methods have been used to identify the key parameters affecting building energy consumption from a total of 37 design parameters,by means of Latin Hypercube sampling(LHS)with EnergyPlus energy consumption simulation and R language programming technology.Moreover,the impact mechanisms of key parameters influencing heating,cooling,lighting and total energy use are investigated.The corresponding energy-saving optimization strategies are suggested to provide a theoretical basis for the low-energy courtyard building design.In order to solve the problems of the influence of the layout parameters on the energy consumption of the courtyard buildings,the standard regression coefficient(SRC)and the treed Gaussian process(TGP)global sensitivity analysis methods are used to calculate the sensitivity index of nine layout parameters.It is found that there are monotonic functions among the layout parameters and the energy consumption.When the surrounding building size exceeds the target buildings',the speed of energy consumption change decreases with the change of the layout parameters.For the multistory and high-rise square courtyard buildings,the west building height has a significant impact on the cooling and total energy consumption,and their total sensitivity effects are more than 0.3.The two dominant factors influencing the high-rise square courtyard building heating energy use are south building distance and height,which can accounts for more than 70% of the variations of the output.In addition,the plan form of the courtyard building has a more important effect on the sensitivity parameters than the building height.In view of the influence of the courtyard form parameters on the energy consumption,the four sensitivity analysis methods(the local sensitivity analysis,the partial correlation coefficients PCC,SRC,and TGP)are employed to quantify the contribution of 15 parameters related to courtyard form design.The results indicate,when the building area and the proportion are fixed,regardless of the courtyard area and the courtyard proportion changed within its range,there is a stable proportion of the courtyard to result in the minimum total energy use.The courtyard area and building area have the greatest impact on building heating,cooling and total energy consumption.Reducing the proportion of the courtyard in the building is an important measure to achieve low energy design.Moreover,in the case of fixed building and courtyard area,the floor height is the most sensitive parameter affecting heating,cooling and total energy use,and its corresponding contribution rate is about 50%,40% and 60% respectively.In order to identify the sensitivity of the design parameters of the courtyard building envelope,the scatter plot and TGP sensitivity analysis methods are used to determine the key parameters.The results suggest that,only considering the related parameters of the wall of the courtyard,the orientation is the most important parameter influencing the total energy consumption of the building,which affects the square and rectangular courtyard building total energy around 40% and 80% respectively.Integrating the change of the courtyard form into the above case,the courtyard proportion becomes the decisive parameter affecting the total energy use,which can explain around 70% of the variance of the output.After increasing the envelope parameters of the building,the sensitivity parameters of the energy consumption are remarkably increased.
