The energy consumption in the building field can account for about40%ofglobal energy consumption. About one-third of the global greenhouse gas emissionsare in relation to buildings. Office buildings were brought into focal point of thebuilding energy efficiency in the national12th Five-Year Plan. The current problem isthe lack of quantitative analysis of energy saving amount and rate on the applicationof building envelope design parameters and technologies. In this paper, sensitivityanalysis method is proposed for the evaluation of energy-saving effect on buildingenvelope system. In this way suitable application types and integration system ofbuilding envelope is expected to be found out. The research in this paper comes from“Integrated Research and Demonstration of Energy-efficient Building Technologies(Project number:2010DFA72740-06)”, which belongs to the building energyefficiency cooperation project of US-China Clean Energy Research Center.Sensitivity analysis theory method aiming at the analysis of building heating andcooling energy consumption had been proposed. Based on the method, a buildingmodel example in cold region had been established by energy consumption simulationsoftware DesignBuilder to discuss the energy-saving effect of building envelopeparameters including heat transmission coefficient of wall, roof and window, solarheat gain coefficient and the window to wall ratio. Sensitivity coefficient andenergy-saving rate under different input parameter step length were proposed toevaluate the energy-saving effect. Sensitivity analysis method can be demonstrated tobe suitable for the analysis of building envelope parameters.Four typical office buildings in Shenyang, Tianjin, Ningbo and Shanghai, whichrepresents severe cold regions, cold regions, hot summer and cold winter regions, hotsummer and warm winter regions respectively, were selected for cases study. Bothbuilding envelope energy-saving technologies and energy consumptions wereinvestigated. Building models of the four buildings were established for energyconsumption simulation. Real energy consumption data was used to prove thesimulated outcome. Different types of common building envelope technologies wereapplied in the four building model to study their relationship with heating and coolingenergy consumption. Finally four optimum proposals of building envelope system were raised based on the analysis above and their simulation results demonstrate theirenergy-saving effects.
