The publicity of space plays an important role in the development and evolution of ancient Chinese non-public gardens.The academic community mostly adopt the methods of archaeology and literature analysis to focus on the physical attributes such as the form,function,scale,flow line and sight of the garden space.They divide the space into royal,private,temple and public garden types according to the different social attributes and have obtained some research results.However,the development and evolution of ancient non-public gardens has not been paid much attention from the perspective of space for people.The composition of ancient non-public garden space is closely related to the demand of people,and human activities constitute the use attributes of public and private space,which is also an important content of the publicity of garden space.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the development and evolution of Chinese ancient non-public garden space from the standpoint of space publicity.The publicity of garden space arises from human activities and it will not exist without the impact of human beings.The interaction between human and space not only never stops in the garden,but also become in complete harmony.The previous research on the public was mainly focused on the clue of whether the space is open to the public and my paper was a little same with these results First of all,it tried to break out of the constraints of the western public thinking,and used interdisciplinary research,literature analysis,field research and other methods to take the public view of ancient Chinese society as the theoretical basis to reconstruct the ancient Chinese public nature theory,namely the space public nature theory in the pre-public era.Secondly,based on this theory,the activity characteristics of people in the pre-publicity period are summarized.From the service object of space and the garden activities in different aspects,to study the relationship between the main need in public space and its constitution.These mainly wanted to know whether the activities of people needed public space and it need what kind of public space.Finally it would come up with a new view on the evolution of Chinese ancient non-public garden space from the perspective of the public.First of all,the public nature of ancient Chinese non-public garden space is reanalyzed,and it is clear that human activities are the premise of influencing space publicity.The dispute about the existence of the publicity of Chinese ancient non-public garden space in the academic field is analyzed,and the core of the dispute is the different meaning of the"publicity" in ancient and modern.From ancient Chinese public and private concept to build garden space of "publicity" theory in ancient China,confirmed that there are "public"and pointed out that "the public" and "privacy" are an organic whole,It can be converted to the characteristics of,then explore space design in how to solve the problem of complex relationships among different grade class;and all of these were t the essence of public research space problem.Then it analyzes and interprets the relevant problems and concepts.Some problems had been illuminated including the public view and public nature of China,the three types and service objects of ancient Chinese gardens,the public nature of garden space and the relationship between public gardens,the differences between Chinese and western understanding of the public nature of space and the evolution of conception in ancient gardens.This paper makes some statistics on the existing landscape space and further defines the research scope.Secondly,our paper mainly analyzes the present situation of the composition of garden space from the activity types of the ancients.Based on the public activities of the ancient people,the existing non-public garden space is divided into two types:purposive activities and communicative activities.Based on the analysis of the relationship between the ancient people's activity behavior and the spatial layout pattern under the influence of different activity types,the conclusion is drawn that the regular layout standardizes the behavior of the purposive activity,the freestyle layout promotes the occurrence of communicative activity,and the mixed collective layout meets the needs of people's purposive and communicative activity.Then,based on the analysis of the common characteristics of garden space and the public expression pattern of entrance,sacrifice,ceremony and boundary space,it summarized that under the influence of "public nature " the characteristics of ancient legacy garden space mainly was just to break the axis to pursue the free communication of interpersonal relations and generating the situation of the coexistence of differentiated "publicity".The evolution of space publicity promotes the change of garden space,which is influenced by politics,economy and thoughts.This paper analyzes the development and evolution of the public nature of garden space before Ming and Qing dynasties from three aspects:the change of the main body of public activity and aesthetic thought,the change of main public activity types and the change of garden space composition under the influence of public activity.Based on these,from the idea of public contact closely with the ancient garden space evolution problems,economic factors and political status,different types of public activities,social systems in different dynasties and user personal demand for public space,etc to further explore the influence factors of Chinese ancient non-public garden space publicity,and ancient society,economic and political status determines the audience of the landscape space,influenced by different dynasties social system,the commonality of landscape space,openness and era background.Influenced by personal aesthetics,hobbies and characters,the publicity of garden space is different.And up to now,the ancient moral and ethical thoughts and the residential concept still have a profound influence on the modern residential concept.Through the research,the nature of ancient non-public garden space can be seen from the perspective of publicity.Human activities endow the space with the public and private attribute and the purpose of the activity determines the form of the space.Therefore,this paper gets the conclusion that the study of the publicity of ancient non-public garden space is actually a way in which the space is used to solve the different types of activities and interpersonal communication among different levels in the hierarchical society.This communication is different from the open publicity in modern civil society,and more or less contains the meaning of open.The publicity of traditional garden space promotes the emergence of the modern publicity and contemporary garden space.The reconstruction of ancient garden space in modern times is the result of the evolution of space publicity.Based on the analysis of the fundamental cause of the western space publicity in China,this paper discusses the transformation of the spatial nature of the existing garden,and then analyzes the space before and after the transformation.
