Fuscoporia Murrill was introduced by Murrill(1907)and F.ferruginosa(Schrad.)Murrill was selected as its type species. The species of the genus are forest pathogens, valuable medicinal fungi and wood decomposer, the taxonomic study of Fuscoporia is very important to understanding the species diversity, and these knowledge has potential application in forest pathology and medicinal fungi etc.A total of 767 specimens of Fuscoporia from Asia,Europe,Oceania and America were collected by the team of the Institute of Microbiology,Beijing Forestry University during the past fifteen years.Experimental methods were beased on Taxonomic and phylogenetic studies. The concept of Fuscoporia is revised based on the current morphological study by 192 specimens: basidiocarps annual to perennial, resupinate to pileate, hyphal system dimitic hyphal system, generative hyphae encrusted(at least at dissepiments)in most species, hymenial setae usually present, and basidiospores hyaline,thin-walled,smooth.The illustrated descriptions of 35 species were given, and studied specimens, distribution, microscopic structures, photos of basidiocarps and remark of each species are provided.Furthermore,an identification keys to all 49 accepted species of Fuscoporia is supplied.Phylogenetic analyses were carried out based on ITS,n LSU,TEF1 and RPB2,and Maximum Likelihood(ML),Maximum Parsimony(MP)were used for restructing phylogenetic trees. The phylogenetic trees based on the single gene(n LSU),a total of 92 specimens including 27 genera of Hymenochaetaceae, and muti-genes(ITS+n LSU+RPB2+TEF1),a total of 109 specimens including 41 species of Fuscoporia showed that six distinctive groups within the Fuscoporia are outlined, viz.the F.contigua group, the F.ferrea group, the F.ferruginosa group, the F.gilva group, the F.torulosa group and the F.viticola group.Based on the phylogenetic evidence and morphology, the phylogenetic relationships among species of Fuscoporia were outline and 19 new species are found: Fuscoporia acutimarginata,F.americana,F.australasica,F.australiana,F.bambusae,F.centroamericana,F.chinensis,F.costaricana,F.eucalypti,F.karsteniana,F.latispora,F.monticola,F.plumeriae,F.shoreae,F.ramulicola,F.septoseta,F.sinica,F.subchrysea and F.subferrea;two new combinations are proposed: F.bambusicola and F.roseocinerea.Illustrated description of these new species are given, and their most important morphological characteristics are demonstated, the differences between these new species and similar species are discussed.
