A Taxonomic Study On Chinese Species Of Genus Encarsia (Hymenoptera:Aphelinidae)

A taxonomic study of the genus Encarsia from China is presented through the examination of about 1000 specimens(including nearly 600 slides)from the Insect Collections of Northeast Forestry University(NEFU)collected by sweeping,yellow pan trap,Malaise trap and host rearing in this paper.The study comprises five parts.In Part I.Introduction,the taxonomic history and current situation of studies abroad and domestically.In Part II.Material and Methods.In Part III.Morphological Characters and Terms.In Part IV.Systematics,60 species of Encarsia were reviewed,including 31 new species,Encarsia dianensis sp.nov.,E.bruneata sp.nov.,E.afasciata sp.nov.,E.maculipecta sp.nov.,E.longicorpa sp.nov.,E.huangi sp.nov.,E.yunnana sp.nov.,E.pauroseta sp.nov.,E.santana sp.nov.,E.liaoi sp.nov.,E.baoshana sp.nov.,E.longchuana sp.nov.,E.dongbeiana sp.nov.,E.imiza sp.nov.,E.polymacula sp.nov.,E.annulata sp.nov.,E.tengchongensis sp.nov.,E.xinyangensis sp.nov.,E.tibetana sp.nov.,E.flavicauda sp.nov.,E.hayati sp.nov.,E.biseta sp.nov.,E.distincta sp.nov.,Encarsia prohamulata sp.nov.,E.parasophia sp,nov.,E.fusciventre sp,nov.,E.brachyvalvula sp.nov.,E.jianchangensis sp.nov.,E.pseudmaura sp.nov.,E.longicorne sp.nov.and E.qingchuana sp.nov.;4 newly recorded species to China,E.mineoi Viggiani,E.olivina(Masi),E.borkusiensis Hayat and E.assamensis Hayat;2 newly recorded species to Mainland,E.inaron(Walker)and E.bothrocera Huang&Polaszek.Morphological characters were described in detail,providing 72 paltes of adult;keys to species of adult females were also provided.Part V was conclusion and discussion.In addition,a checklist of all the Chinese species and a figure of collection places were given in appendix part.The present study is a systematic revision of Encarsia from China.As one of the most important category of natural enemy,most species of the genus are primary endoparasitoids of Aleyrodidae or Diaspididae.Therefore,the present study is of great significance on the identification of parasitoids,guidance of control on agricultural and forestry pests and also in improvement of biodiversity in China.All the specimens were deposited at the Insect Collections of Northeast Forestry University(NEFU).
