With the increase of population,the aging population will increase,and the change of food consumption will greatly affect the future food demand and supply pattern.The aging has decreased body function,reduced physical activity,poor overall health,and decreased food consumption.From the perspective of the whole society,the deepening of aging will reduce food consumption.Although the above point of view is undoubtedly correct,but stay in this overall judgment is not enough,you need to further refine the classification.The general judgment tends to cover up the differences of classification and judgment.The overall consumption of food is the result of a variety of food consumption changes,therefore,we should not only see the overall changes,but also to see changes in classification.Therefore,this study will answer the following four questions:First,In the past few decades,Has the same impact of different kinds of food in the China's aging?Second,If the impact is different,what are the possible mechanisms that affect the consumption of food?Third,considering the aging characteristics of urban and rural,sexuality and region,the impact of aging is the same?Finally,combined with the characteristics of the kinds of food consumption,How to determine the future of various types of food demand?In order to answer the above questions,based on CHNS,this paper makes a research.First of all,the paper will compare the differences in the various types of food consumption between old and the young to get the effect of aging on food consumption.Secondly,we use the panel data of CHNS1997-2011 to test whether the aging of our country is the determinants of food consumption changes.Then,based on the theory of population structure change and consumption,we analyze the effects of demographic change(aging)on food consumption.Comparing the effect of the difference between urban and rural,gender and region on food consumption,we analyze the mechanism of food consumption in the process of aging.Thirdly,we compare the impact of aging on food consumption in urban and rural,between gender and region.Finally,based on the studies,we determine the changing trend of various types of food.Through theoretical and empirical analysis,the results are as follows:Firstly,the idea of aging to reduce food consumption is considered to be revised.We find that only the staple food and basic non-staple food(grains,vegetables and poultry meat consumption)showed a downward trend;on the contrary,the trophisim non-staple food(fruit,eggs,aquatic products and beans)consumption increase,especially dairy products increase significantly.Red meat(livestock meat)consumption reduces and white(Poultry and aquatic products)consumption increase.Flour and rice consumption reduced while the coarse grains increased.The change of food consumption is influenced by the factors of urban and rural,gender and region.Specifically,the degree of population aging in rural is larger than the city,the food consumption of rural residents in the process of aging is not only reflected in the decline of staple food and basic non-staple food,but also reflected in the consumption of non-staple food nutrition.The consumption gap of nutrition on non-staple food(fruit,poultry and aquatic products)in urban and rural has widened in the old stage.We also need to pay attention to the rural elderly in the non-staple food consumption.Aging in China shows the characteristics of women,women need more attention to changes in food consumption in the future,especially in the rural elderly.The aging degree of the eastern region of China is larger than that of the central and western regions,and the trend of food consumption in the eastern and central and western regions is consistent with that in the aging process.On the one hand,Most of the food consumption gaps have not expanded.On the other hand,some of the food(fruits and dairy products)due to the consumption of rural residents in the Midwest in the old stage of decline,the regional consumption gap has increased.
