The integration of urban and rural areas is the inevitable requirement of new-type urbanization in China, which is an important link in the process of modernization in China, playing a great role in promoting the expansion and optimization of China’s economic development space. Subject to the dual structure in urban and rural economy and society, resource endowment, national and regional economic development policies, consciousness of market economy and other factors, not only our country’s regional gap of the social and economic development is obvious, but the development of urban and rural integration also exists significant regional difference. Since the reform and opening-up, the regional differentiation of urban-rural integration development level in Northeast, Eastern, Central and Western is serious, which not only affects the coordination of social and economic development among different regions, but the completion of China’s overall well-off society and the socialist harmonious society will be harmed. Therefore, the regional difference of urban and rural integration in China is being selected as the topic, then exploring the causes and the performance of the differences as well as the countermeasures, thus promoting the overall economic and social harmonious development in China. Through the construction of efficiency-fairness coordination degree model, the overall static status of development of urban-rural integration in China is being analyzed, as well as the dynamic integration of urban and rural development status in four large area. The results show that the urban-rural coordination in various provinces continues improving through volatility, with the eastern region better than that in the northeast region, the northeast area is better than that in the central region, the western areas being the worst. Technically, several reasons can explain the result above, including the economic factor, resource endowment, economic transition and regional development policy. Through the case analysis, Beijing in the eastern, Hei Longjiang in the northeast, Anhui in the central and Tibet in the Western, the integration of urban and rural development process and the status quo in the four provinces are being assessed, compared and summarized.
