High power pulse generators have been widely used in civil and military regions.Primary energy supply system used to store and provide energy is the key part of the high power pulse generator.It has very important significances to investigate a compact primary energy supply system with high output voltage,high energy conversion efficiency and high repetition rate for enhancing the technology of the high power pulse generator.Therefore,based on the in-depth theoretical and experimental research of an air-core Tesla transformer,the discharging thyristors and an LC resonant charging device,a compact primary energy supply system is developed in this paper.The main contents and innovative points of the dissertation are listed as follows.1.A theoretical analysis method of air-core Tesla transformer combined by direct circuit method and equivalent circuit method is set up to investigate the resonant charging and load discharging processes of air-core Tesla transformer.Based on the method,a small-sized air-core Tesla transformer with output voltage of 100 kV,repetition rate of 5 Hz and energy conversion efficiency more than 50% is developed.2.According to the actual demands,a switch composed by thyristors with series and parallel is designed as a discharging device of the primary energy supply system.The method to design a balancing resistor is improved for reducing the power loss of itself.The over-voltage generated during the thyristors closing is effective suppressed by utilizing the RC-snubber circuit,and the problem of reverse spike voltage distribution unevenness during the thyristors opening is solved by using the thyristors with the same reverse recovery charge.A compact trigger control system is developed.The output performances of this system and the switch are studied.The results showed that the switch could work steadily as the discharging device in the primary energy supply system.3.An approximate analytical method is set up to analysis the working characteristics of LC resonant charging device in the case that the voltage of energy supply capacitor is changed.Based on the method,a compact LC resonant charging device is developed.The device can charge the primary capacitor to 4.5 kV in 4 times,and the energy conversion efficiency is greater than 90%.4.A compact primary energy supply system is developed by assembling the key parts of air-core Tesla transformer,discharging thyristors and LC resonant charging device.In order to solve the problem that the charging and recovery thyristors are triggered by the electromagnetic radiation of spark gap switch,a relay isolation method is proposed.The operating characteristics of the primary energy supply system are investigated by experimental tests.The results showed that the system working in 5 pulses with output voltage of 100 kV,repetition rate of 5 Hz and energy conversion efficiency more than 45% achieved its design goals and requirements.
