Human beings as they are, not only private existence, but also a kind-of relational existence. This means that people cannot live in isolation; after all, people want to have a public life, while responsibility is the tie that holds together a society as relational existence, which is the prerequisite of possible orderly development of society. At present, the intellectuals are put in the professional, bureaucracy and detailed system and limited by a single, narrow knowledge domain. Thus, the sensitivity of public issues is lost, and their social responsibility also has been weakened. As the subject of public intellectuals increasingly has been paid attention by the academic circles, in the times of the highly developed higher education, we are urgently needed to reflect ourselves: what kind of way of life in society should we take and what responsibilities should we undertake as professional intellectuals of higher education researchers. This requires higher education researchers to take part in the exploration of the public culture with the attitude of a public concern and professional positions, so as to embody the value of the higher education researchers.Firstly, it is based on the higher education researchers whose existence and triple identity is defined. In terms of its existence, the researchers of higher education are not only a kind of intellectual existence, but also a kind of virtue existence. Correspondingly, the higher education researchers should have triple identity of teacher, scholar and professional intellectual. Based on this content, it analyzes the essential factor of the social responsibility of higher education researchers, embodying the social responsibility for the teaching, scientific research, social services, and for the promotion of the development of higher education, responsibility ethics, social role of intellectuals, and the public interest is in the social responsibility of the higher education researchers. And social responsibility of subject and object of symmetry and asymmetry, social responsibility motivation of utilitarianism and super utility, as well as social responsibility implementation of mandatory and self-consciousness is constituted the characteristics of the social responsibility of higher education researchers.Secondly, it analyzes the present situation of the social responsibility of higher education researchers based on the understanding of the meaning of social responsibility, which mainly refers to undertake and lack of social responsibility of higher education researchers. The higher education researchers make an important contribution to developing the higher education discipline, improving the descendants of the pedagogy of higher education system, promoting the reform and development of higher education and guiding the social development, which make the social responsibility be realized. However, in reality, there also has some degree of deficiency of social responsibility of the higher education researchers, which mainly manifests that they lack of independent personality and critical spirit, servicing to higher education practice and academic ethics and conscience. The reason contains internal factors and external factors.Thirdly, it presents a real social responsibility requirement of higher education researchers by analyzing the dimensions of mission, the development of knowledge and social needs. From the view of the reality, the higher education researchers should become the enlightener of the concept of higher education, the development of higher education promoters and social morality leader. As for the researcher of higher education, they need to do research on the higher education systematically in order to obtain all-round understanding the idea of higher education. On this basis, they can enlighten the public by their academic explanation. The researcher of higher education should hold a kind of discipline consciousness and scholar consciousness to the development of the higher education. In addition, it promotes the leader role of morality that is the unity of ideal expression and the existence ways of scholar. Meanwhile, the embodiment of the imparting knowledge and the shaping model are also the contents of the leader role of morality for the researcher of higher education. From the view of the development of knowledge, the researcher of higher education should be the explorer of the truth and the promoter of the knowledge. The researcher of higher education should hold the academic position and fulfill the life practice to expanding the knowledge. From the view of the needs of society, the higher education researchers should become the promoters of social well-being and the development of higher education.Finally, it researches the path to achieving social responsibility of higher education researchers. This is the subject of this study. The path to achieve social responsibility for higher education researchers is mainly related to three ways which are namely that the individual and the community share social responsibility, moral norm and system norm are co-existed, and role, rights and social responsibility are balanced. The researchers need to enhance social responsibility, and create a cultural of the social responsibility which plays mirror image of itself. For the external norm, it involves two aspects that formal constraints- a sound academic accountability and informal constraints- creating ethical regulatory mechanisms. It is a kind of life achievement for higher education researchers to care for others and practice social duty consciously.
