Socialist Ethnic Culture Construction In 1949-1966

Ethnic issues,for the majority of countries,are mainly the relationship between the "dominant ethnic" and "minorities",or the relationship between the "dominant cultural" group and the "subcultural" group.Ethnic issues include both the development of the ethnic itself and the relationship between the ethnic and the state.Since the late Qing Dynasty,the traditional imperial structure has encountered severe challenges.It has become one of the most fundamental problems of "modern China" that the issue of "dual national identity"("Chinese national identity" and ethnic identity)since then.The research object of this dissertation is socialist ethnic culture of the minority areas in 1949-1966("17 years"),Which main purpose is to explore the issue of national identity in the process of ethnic cultural transformation by means of analysing the core texts(Gada Meiren,Ashima,Liu Sanjie).With collecting and collating of minority literature text during the "17 years" as the object of the research,the dissertation tries to use the transdisciplinary research method to discuss issues of national identity.So,not only the characters image,the plot in the literature texts,and the narrative formula,rhetoric methods that used in the texts,but also the historical context that produces the text,meaning structure and the system of the interpretation should be brought into the scope of discussion.The dissertation argues that during the "17 years" period,With the requisition of the "class" theory,The Chinese Communist Party guided the class identity of laboring people from the social to the individual,and crossed the ethnic division by similar interests and emotions,and successful interpellated national community consciousness of all ethnic groups,ultimately motivated universal identity of all ethnic about the national unity of the "multi-ethnic state".The dissertation is divided into five chapters:The Introduction Section,which clarifies the background of China's "ethical problems" from the perspective of the historical,introduces the concept of "socialist ethnic cultural construction",presents the current research of different disciplines on "ethical problems",constructs the theoretical model about the relationship between "socialist ethnic culture" and the collecting and collating of ethnic literature: it is the "class" theory that builds a bridge from "ethnic identity" to "Chinese national identity".Chapter One,presents the narrative texts of the revolutionary theme that was collected and arranged in the “17 years” period,especially take compilation and rewriting of Gada Meiren as the study case to discuss the problem of national history and emotional integration.Under the framework of the class theory,the new regime reconstructed some important uprising stories of the ethnic history and culture,to convert ethnic unrest to class contradictions conflict,to shape ethnic hero into a national hero,to construct the new revolutionary historical memory of the modern nation-state,completed the integration of national history.And with the help of the values of "collective" orientation in traditional Chinese culture,it will lead ethnic minority affective to the Chinese nation,completed the integration of the feelings of the Chinese nation.Chapter Two,Reorganization of Ashima for the cases of discuss basic social integration.“Freedom in love and marriage” permeated by class consciousness become the most powerful force which disintegrate the traditional "local autonomy".At the same time,through the change of ethnic minority existing family system,the national ideology to go deep into the grass-roots society,the new social system and code of ethics to take root,completed the integration of grass-roots society.Chapter Three,Reorganization of Liu Sanjie for the cases of rethink the study of the metaphorical structure of the relationship between the ethnic minorities and the state in the "17 years",to discuss the construction of the national identity.Gender be incorporated in the process of the construction of national identity,what kind of influence that the change will brought about the women's life style,self-social identification in ethnic areas whether will the change changes their fate;at the same time,what position of male in the structure;whether it has changed.In Conclusion Part,Select classic title in minority literature during "17 years",to summary the construction experience about “socialist nation family” in “17 years”: the experience that in the integration of ethnic consciousness,grass-roots society and promote gender issues such as cultural integration experience by the communist party of China,still worth we cherish.Today,how activate its energy need us further exploration.
