Study On The Treatment Of Perimenopausal Depression Disorder By Erxian Tang And Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang

Objective:The aim of study that the clinical efficacy effectiveness,safety and side effects of Erxian Tang added to Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang(Chinese medicine)compares with those of fluoxetine(Western medicine)for the treatment of perimenopausal depression.Method:66 participants diagnosed as perimenopause depression were selected from the outpatient department in CHENG-HSIN hospital(New Taipei City,Taiwan)during June 2015 to September 2016.66 participants were divided two groups randomly.34 patients were in case group who were treated by Chinese medicine and 32 patients were in control group who were treated by Western medicine.The patients in two groups both were measured by the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),TCM syndrome score,consolidated effect,symptomatic effect,and safety indicators at the 0,2,4,6 and 8 weeks.Results:1.After 8 weeks treatment,Hamilton Depression Scale scores efficacy was measured.5 cases(14.7%)were cured,14 cases(41.2%)significantly progressed,9 cases(26.5%)progressed,and 6 cases(17.6%)were ineffective at the case group.The total of effectiveness in the Chinese-medicine was 82.4%.5 cases(15.6%)were cured,14 cases(43.8%)significantly progressed,8 cases(25.0%)progressed,and 5 cases(15.6%)were ineffective at the control group.The total effectiveness of the Western-medicine was 84.4%.There was no significant difference between two groups(p>0.05).The results manifested that both the Chinese-medicine and the western-medicine could improve perimenopausal depression by measuring HDSS.2.After 8 weeks treatment,TCM syndrome score also were measured at the two groups.9 cases(26.5%)were highly effective,19 cases(55.9%)were effective,and 6 cases(17.6%)were ineffective at the case group.The total effectiveness of Chinese-medicine was 82.4%.8 cases(25.0%)were highly effective,18 cases(56.2%)were effective,and 6 cases(18.8%)were ineffective at the western-medicine.The total effectiveness of the western-medicine was 81.2%.There was no significant difference between the two groups(p>0.05).The results suggested that the both Chinese-medicine and western-medicine treatment could improve TCM syndrome of perimenopausal depression.3.After 8 weeks of the treatment,clinical menopausal syndromes were compared in the two groups.The case group had significantly improved including the depressed looking,hot flushes and sweating,abnormal feeling,irritability,silence,dizziness,fatigue,palpitations,chest tightness and stuffy,abdominal distention,insomnia,loss of appetite,limb pain,and constipation(p<0.05).The control group had also significantly improved including depressed looking,irritability,silence,dizziness,fatigue,palpitations,chest tightness and stuffy,abdominal distention,insomnia,loss of appetite,limb pain,constipation(p<0.05),however,there was no significantly effective in hot flushes and sweating,abnormal feeling(p>0.05).4.After 8 weeks of the treatment,each clinical symptoms of the patients were compared between the two groups.The treatment group had significant improvement in hot flushes and sweating,feeling abnormal,chest tightness stuffy,loss of appetite,compared with the control group was statistically significant(p<0.05)However,there was no significant difference between the two groups in the improvement of other symptoms(p>0.05).The results illustrated that the Chinese-medicine could improve in hot flushes and sweating,feeling abnormal,chest tightness stuffy and loss of appetite better than the Western-medicine treatment.5.Side effects between the two groups were compared.The case group had 6 cases with side effects,including 3 cases with nausea and 3 cases with diarrhea.The control group had 21 cases,including 4 cases with dry mouth,3 cases with insomnia,3 cases with nausea,2 cases with anxiety,2 cases with fatigue,3 cases with dizziness,3 cases of constipation,and 1 case with headache.The results illustrated that the Chinese-medicine could become less side effects than the Western medicine.Conclusion:The results of this study show that Erxian Tang adding to Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang could certainly effect perimenopausal depression.Patients who received Chinese-medicine treatment could significantly more improve in hot flushes,sweating,abnormal feeling than those treated the western-medicine.In addition,the Chinese-medicine could more rapidly improve irritability and chest tightness and stuffy.More further,the longer the Erxian Tang added to Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang used,the more improvement in loss of appetite,chest tightness and stuffy is.The conclusion of study also shows that the advantages of this Chinese medicine could recuperate in soothing-the-Liver and regulating-qi.Finally,Erxian Tang added to Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang were made by the Scientific Concentration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,which has been identified in safety,less side-effects,and convenient method.Therefore,this Chinese medicine is worthy of clinical promotion.
