Objective:To investigate a new modelling and technology of studying four Properties of Chinese Materia Medica, creates its mathematical models and conduct a preliminary validation. Methods:By way of the biophysical fauctional characteristics between Chinese medicine and the four-qi propertics on human body, the mathematical models of the four-medica-properties were established in terms of combustion enthalpy based on the first law of thermodynamics. HR3000 digital calorimeter measurement of Chinese medicine extract, combustion enthalpy of vivo metabolite in the mice before and after aderministration were used to calculate and analyze the combustion enthalpy change of Chinese medicine formula Xiao Chai Hu Tang in the metabolites of mice, further to verify the validation of the mathematical model. Results:In normal mice, heat syndrome mice, cold syndrome mice, hybrid mice, syuedromed by half of heat and cold syndrome mice, so-called hybrid mice in terms of Chinese medicine, were arranged to take half year Chinese medicine formula Xiao Chai Hu Tang, and the average change of the combustion enthalpy of the metabolites before and after the invivo are as follows:In normal mice:Xiao Chai Hu Tang group presented combustion enthalpy-1298.35±105.87 J·g-1 as well(skullcap+Bupleurum)group as 1992.41±357.95 J·g-1,(Ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia)Section-545.25±171.68 J·g-1,licorice group 8.95±79.52 J·g-1,(skullcap+ Bupleurum+ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia)Section -1051.42±109.59 J·g-1,(jujube+ginseng+Ginger+Glycyrrhiza Pinellia+)group-1278.25±96.36 J·g-1,(Scutellaria baicalensis+Bupleurum+licorice) group 963.71±170.47 J·g-1;In Heat syndrome mi ce:Xiao Chai Hu Tang group presented combustion enthalpy as -1825.61±130.87 J·g-1 as well(skullcap+Bupleurum) group as 1290.33±236.28 J·g-1,(Ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia) group -930.49±64.58 J·g-1,licorice group -29.75±32.04 J·g-1, (skullcap+Bupleurum+ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia)Section-1681.86±101.60 J·g-1,(jujube+ginseng+Ginger+Glycyrrhiza Pinellia+)group -1306.11±132.53 J·g-1,(Scutellaria baicalensis+ Bupleurum+licorice)group 236.49±79.779 J·g-1;In cold syndrome mice:Xiao Chai Hu Tang group presented combustion enthalpy as -1312.91±147.18 J·g-1 as well(skullcap+Bupleurum) group as 2050.19±159.35 J·g-1,(Ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia) Section -778.87±97.40 J·g-14,licorice group 17.59±33.94 J·g-1, (Scutellaria+Bupleurum+ginseng+ginger+jujube+Pinellia)Section-1376.72±132.83 J·g-1,(jujube+ginseng+Ginger+Glycyrrhiza Pinellia+)group -1083.21±77.53 J·g-1,(cold medicine+level drug) group 436.91±156.69 J·g-1;In mice with hybrid syndrome:Xiao Chai Hu Tang group presented combustion enthalpy as -1221.43±124.95 J·g-1 as well(Scutell aria baicalensis+Bupleurum)group as 1360.53±228.85 J·g-1,(Ginseng+ ginger+jujube+Pinellia)Section-809.15±149.86 J·g-1,licorice group 25.35±51.15 J·g-1,(Scutellaria baicalensis+Bupleurum+ginseng+ ginger+jujube+Pinellia) Section -1385.36±81.29 J·g-1,(jujube+ ginseng+Ginger+Glycyrrhiza Pinellia+) group -1530.41±187.13 J·g-1,(Scutellaria baicalensis+Bupleurum+licorice)group 205.07±67.19 J·g-1.Enthalpy state function according to bio-mathematical model to determine characteristics of herbs, empathy pushed to Chinese herbal compound, determine the results:(skullcap+Bupleurum)group, (skullcap+Bupleurum+licorice)group as cold medicines,Xiao Chai Hu Tang group,(Ginseng+Ginger+jujube+Banxia)group,(jujube+ ginseng+Ginger+Glycyrrhiza Pinellia+)group,(Scutellaria baicalensis +Bupleurum+ginseng+ginger+jujube+ternata)group for hot drug, licorice group level drugs. Conclusion:The created mathematical model of four Chinese medicine expressed in combustion enthalpy can correctly reflect the the changes of the body enthalpy resulted from cold, hot in the different nature of Chinese compound formula and recipe, which can be used to qualitatively reflect the characteristics of herbs.
