Patterns Of The Flexible Design

China is one of the world's most active countries on the exploration and construction of eco-city.Eco-city construction represents our commitments to international community about energy-saving and carbon emission reduction,also in line with the national strategy of ecological civilization construction and urban development trend in the future.Eco-city design as an important part of development needs more in-depth research and discussion.Flexible design described in this study is based on the resilience theory of ecological urban design strategies to address the phased,complexity and uncertainty issues,which generated in the process of construction and development of eco-city,to conduct the research on the effect of flexible design based on the view of flexibility and adaptability and build the framework with sustainable characteristics.Flexible design is a combination of flexible strategies,as well as urban design theory of new thinking.Flexible design conception does not adhere to the traditional eco-city design processes or programming,instead combining flexibility with sustainable design actions to be applied to different urban scalesThis research consisted of four parts.The mainline was resilience theory and ecological urban design strategies.Four parts were research on eco-city development,research on resilience conception,research on eco-city design and the integration of the research on framework of flexible design strategies.Part One: Describes the current problems in eco-city development.Based on eco-city stages,complexity and uncertainty,gives the strategy of thought change,that is resilience theory.Part Two: research on resilience conception including chapter 3 and chapter 7,explained the core theory: resilience and flexible design,in-depth study of application scope of the resilience conception,essential and relevant elements,concept,analysis,target audience of flexible design and eco-city relationships and the motivation.Part Three: research on eco-city design including chapter 4,5and 6,contained sustainable eco-city design elements,the risks and eco-city indicator system.Sustainable eco-city design elements included compactness,mobility,ecological,localization and so on,which were divided into ten areas by theoretical research and case analysis.Ecological risks included pressures and impacts caused by urbanization,urban ecosystem carrying capacity including water recycling,waste management,air pollution,energy management and natural disasters.Inductive study of eco-city index system included indicators and threshold value,which sketched the outline of eco-city from environment,social,economy and resource.Part Four: combined the above contents,which were resilience characteristics and sustainable eco-city design to build flexible design framework.On this basis,proposed solutions about development questions of eco-city design in China.This research introduced the eco-system resilience,provided the framework of flexible design,emphasizing flexibility,adaptability and diversity principles to the eco-city space design.
