Research On Driven Mechanism And Impact On Performance Of Low Carbon Behavior In Star Hotels

Global warming has become the focus of widespread attention from all sectors of society,to reduce energy consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide,has become the important measures for dealing with the environment.The impact on the environment of tourism is not so direct and significant as industry,but the massive growth of tourism in promoting the continuous development of world economy also brought many negative effects,the "smokeless industry" also has carbon emissions.The carbon emissions of tourism mainly come from the tourist traffic and hotel industry,carbon emissions from the hotels account for 21% of the carbon emissions of tourism,is the second largest source of carbon emissions of tourism.With energy crisis and environmental problems becoming increasingly serious,as one of the major tourism enterprises,the hotel is an important representative of urban development and the important service window of modern tourism,its carbon emissions in the process of energy consumption cannot be ignored.It is significant that the implementation of low carbon behavior can improve and strengthen the overall image of the hotel industry,alleviate the energy and environmental pollution,promote the sustainable development of tourism and even the society as a whole.Which factors drive star hotels implement low-carbon behavior? Whether the driving factors interact and influence each other,how to promote the star hotel implement low-carbon behavior jointly? How low carbon behavior of star hotels influence hotel performance? If low carbon behavior can bring benefit for the hotel,what are specific optimization strategies of low carbon behavior in hotels? This thesis studies these core issues,and further clarifies the cause and effect of low carbon behavior in star hotels.Firstly,on the basis of a systematic analysis on related literature and theories interpretation,the thesis inductively extract seven driving factors of low carbon behavior in star hotels according to grounded theory coding procedures by the way of depth interview to hotel employees and relevant experts,and low carbon behavior of the hotel is divided into general low carbon behavior and positive low carbon behavior,at the same time the thesis establish two dimension of performance assessment – direct performance and indirect performance.Secondly,on the basis of theoretical analysis,the thesis constructs the theoretical model of "driving factors-low carbon behavior-performance",and then analyses and makes a deduction of the relationship of different driving factors and low carbon behavior,low carbon behavior and performance,and put forward the research hypothesis.Thirdly,the questionnaire of this research is designed scientifically,preliminary investigation and data collection from the perspective of specific empirical.With the help of the statistical software of SPSS24.0 and AMOS24.0,received data were examined by statistics analysis,the reliability and validity test.Finally,the structural equation model is inspected and corrected,and research hypothesis are tested,and the research results are analyzed and discussed.After the above theoretical analysis and empirical test,the thesis comes to some main conclusions as follows:(1)The driving force of low carbon behaviors in star hotels include four internal driving force-internal low carbon management,low carbon technical facilities,low carbon responsibility consciousness,talents and three external driving force-policies and regulations,social norms and economic strength,which are interconnected and coupling between them to promote the implementation of low carbon behavior in star hotels.(2)The implementation of general low carbon behavior and active low carbon behavior is different,the driving factors of these two kind of behaviors are also not completely the same.The cognitive and implementation of general low carbon behavior is higher than active low carbon behavior in star hotels.(3)In general low carbon behaviors have a positive effect on hotel performance in star hotels.General low carbon behavior and positive low carbon behavior have positive influence on direct performance of star hotels.General low carbon behavior also has positive influence on indirect performance,but positive low carbon behavior have not significant positive effect on indirect performance.(4)There exists interaction among driving factors of low carbon behavior in star hotels,between general low carbon behavior and positive low carbon behavior,between direct and indirect hotel performance.(5)Optimization strategies based on drving factors are helpful to improve low carbon behavior of star hotels.This thesis puts up specific optimization strategies of low carbon behavior in star hotels based on seven driving factors,which aims to improve the level of low-carbon behavior,promote the development of low carbonization process in star hotels,finally achieve the "three win" goal of economic,ecological and social benefits.Through stduying driven mechanism and performance effects of low carbon behavior in star hotels,the innovations of this thesis are summarized in the following four aspects:(1)Construct the theoretical model of "driving factors-low carbon behavior-performance".Domestic research on low carbon behavior of hotels is few,and mainly studies the influence factors of low carbon behavior in hotels,the empirical research on the relationship between low carbon behavior and performance is very lack.This thesis systematically study the cause and effect of low carbon behavior in the hotel,construct the theoretical model of "driving factors-low carbon behavior-performance",and identify the components of major variables,the main driving factors are studied for low carbon behavior and how low carbon behavior impact on performance.(2)Studying on low carbon behavior of star hotels innovatively.Previous research only studies on low carbon operation or energy conservation and emissions reduction of hotels or hotels of a specific region generally,but the research object of this thesis focus on low carbon behavior in star hotels,the research object is specific and typical.Because the high energy consumption and high emission is more serious in high star hotels,their low-carbon development in the hospitality industry is more typical and representative.The research on low carbon behavior is more concrete than low carbon development and low carbon management.(3)The driving mechanism system of low carbon behavior of star hotels is constructed in this thesis.After the analysis of internal and external driving force of low carbon behavior in star hotels and their associated coupling mechanism,the thesis illustrates the driving mechanism of low carbon behavior in star hotels based on low carbon economy and benefit theory,and government,region,hotels,and consumers "four-wheel drive" model motivation mechanism system of low carbon behaviors in star hotels is constructed.(4)Design and develop the measurement scale of low carbon behavior driving factors and performance influence of star hotels.In this thesis,on the basis of referencing to related research scale and considering the actual situation of this research,the scale of driven factors and performance of low carbon behavior in star hotels is designed.The empirical analysis results show that the designed scale of this research has good stability and validity.
