With the fast urbanization in Shenzhen, it has acquired a more significant feature ofdiffusion. It is justified to say that the outlying area of cities, in terms of quality, bearing thebiggest transformation both in spatial structure and land use. As the typical semi-urban region,affected by inner spatial restructuring and the external spatial expansion, it is the mostsensitive part in cities expansion as well. Therefore, studying city structure plays on theoutlying area and the outlying area’s evolving process, characteristic and mode is veryimportant for the researches in urban space’s optimization, mechanism and development.This thesis includes three parts. Above all, with the concept of urban spatial structure, it isdefined the scope of Shenzhen outlying area and analyzed the urban space evolution. The firstthing is to propose the definition of outlying area from the urbanization and urban structureperspective. Then, the study illustrates the Radiating layer pattern of Shenzhen and thescope of Shenzhen outlying area based on the urban structure and urbanization characteristic.The study also discusses inner spatial restructuring and the external spatial expansion hasgreat impact on outlying area and the composition, characteristic and problem of land use inoutlying area. Finally, takes Maozhou River basin, regarded as part of Shenzhen’ outer space,as an example, and suggests that the process and characteristic of inner spatial restructuringand the external spatial expansion by LUCC. It is illustrated that the basin cities haveexperienced aggregation type expansion, corridor type filling and formed Concentrated beltpattern about urban evolution mode ultimately. So Dual core three axis space structuremode is brought out to promote the balanced development of basin.The second part brings out the space optimization and positive analysis of outlying areasbased on grid. Firstly, with GIS we can weigh the quantifiable indicators, and simulate anideal urban spatial pattern, by comparing the ideal space and the current space to get thedevelopment revelation. Then, by means of dividing the whole and inner space into grids, thebasin has formed the whole and inner grids. The whole and inner space optimization strategieshave been elaborated through greenway as medium creating new space system. Finally, thestudy indicates not only the positive analysis of greenway, including zone, city andcommunity greenway application of linking, isolating, buffering and creating multi-function, but also the multifunctional space built and development opportunity of the greenwayintervene and analyzing the real effect of greenway construction in Maozhou basin byquestionnaire survey.The third part, the study discovers the comprehensive mechanism of evolution ofShenzhen’s outlying areas and urban planning management. Firstly, the study indicates thatthe urban economic development, society space change and major event effect dominated byinstitutional composing the comprehensive mechanism of evolution. Then, the study proposesthe industry, function, zoology and culture development direction and spatial developmentmode of Shenzhen’s outlying area. Finally, the study brings out the big city’s outlying areaplanning and management, including spatial temporal adaptation of planning idea, processdynamic of making plan and temporal innovation of planning management.
