The energy consumption structure relates not only to the speed and quality of economic growth, but also to the quality of human life and ecological environment. With the fast forward of Chinese economy, industrialization and urbanization, the "energy bottleneck" problem is becoming increasingly serious. Being the largest developing countries and the largest developed country, the energy consumption structure of both China and America have a strong comparable. Although the two countries are at different stages of economic development, but the experiences and lessons in energy consumption structure in America are still have considerable reference value for China. In this paper, I take energy consumption structure as reserch object, extensive gathering and digestion data, and work on with my study form perspectives as follows:the evolution of Sino-US energy consumption structures by absolute and relative amount, comparative analysis on each species of energy, the economy, industry and sector effectiveness of Sino-US energy consumption structure, etc. With the help of empirical analysis, I explore the similarities and differences between Sino-US energy consumption structures and the reasons, so as to put forward specific and feasible policy recommendations. This dissertation consists of seven chapters, which contents are as follows:As the Chapter One, it introduces us the domain and background, the purpose and significance. Besides, it briefly summarizes the research status in energy Substitute and optimization, energy consumption with economic and industrial, low-carbon economy, etc. What’s more, it also introduces the researching methods, innovations and disadvantages.Chapter Two focuses on the theory of energy consumption structure. First, it introduces the generation, development and main points of the Energy Economic Revolution Theory. Then, it Elaborates the Energy Substitute Theory which including alternative internal energy and the substitution between energy, technology, capital, labor and so on. It introduces the generation, development and basic viewpoints of low-carbon economic theory.Chapter Three studies the evolution of Sino-US energy consumption structure. It compares the basic movement of the total amount and internal structure of Sino-US energy consumption structure. To make the results more scientific, it analysis quantitatively the affecting factors on Sino-US energy consumption structure by means of grey associated analysis and Cointegration method.Chapters Four and Five deepen the analysis of Sino-US energy consumption structure from the respectively perspective of non-renewable energy and renewable energy, with detailed data, it studies the trends, characteristics and causes of Sino-US energy varieties structure, and compares their Similarities and differences. By this way, it tap the experiences and lessons of U.S. energy consumption which can be usful for China. Chapter Four refers to non-renewable energy such as coal, oil, gas and nuclear energy while Chapter Five refers to renewable energy such as hydropower, solar, wind, biomass and geothermal. In Chapter Six, based on the main factors on energy consumption structure, it focuses on the benefit analysis which being the solid foundation for the design of optimization China’s energy consumption structure. First, it takes GDP as dependent variable to make a model which giving economic analysis on energy consumption structure. Secondly, it gives a industry OLS analysis by taking the Proportion of non-agricultural industries added value as industrialization level index. Again, it gives a grey associated analysis by taking the industrial added value of16typical sectors as compare series and taking the industrial energy consumption as reference series. Finally, it gives another grey associated analysis by taking the population age structure, population urban and rural structure and population industrial structure as compare series and taking the amount of coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear power, hydropower, solar power and wind power as reference series.Chapter Seven is the last one which focusing on the inspiration and reference coming from America’s energy consumption structure. It begins with the optimization strategy of China’s energy consumption structure which origining from China’s energy situation, and discussing it from domestic basis, energy conservation, alternative technology and multiple energy. Besides, it also put out some specific measures to optimize China’s energy consumption structure both include non-renewable energy and renewable energy. At last, it summaries the unresolved problems.
