Study On Coupling Mechanism And Regulation Between Urban Physical And Social Space

Urban spatial structure is one of the themes of regional economics. The traditional urban spatial structure theory tended to explore the evolution of urban spatial structure from the economic space pattern or social zone changes. The single research angle is difficult to explain complex reconstruction mechanisms of urban space system in current situation. This paper argues that the single physical space or social space research angle of urban spatial structure should turn to coupling between physical and social space. Meanwhile, we should to establish new concept and theoretical system of coupling between urban physical and social space. Therefore, this thesis presents that it is a new research field for regional economics and other disciplines to explore interaction between urban physical and social space.Under the background of Chinese rapid social and economic transition, the urban space systems are constantly reconstructed and all sorts of new urban space form appear constantly. In this process, the dislocation state between the urban physical and social space becomes increasingly salient, for example, the uneven distribution of urban resources, severe challenge of urban public interest and public service function, fragmentation of urban social space, marginalization of disadvantaged groups social space. It is significant research subject to explore interaction mechanism between urban physical and social space and promote both of the orderly coupling and coordinated development. These studies are urgent requirement to eliminate the increasingly serious urban social problems and realize the urban harmonious development.Based on the demand of theoretical study and practical background, the paper put forward concept system of coupling between the urban physical and social space from coupling perspective, and analyzes the spatial coupling system. Then the thesis takes Changchun for example and synthetically uses mathematical statistics method and the GIS technology, and builds the coupling evaluation index system between urban physical and social space. At the same time, this paper reveals spatial differences of levels and regional types of coupling between urban physical and social space, and synthetically analyzes coupling mechanism between urban physical and social space. Finally, the paper proposes regulatory pathways to promote coordinated development between urban physical and social space for Changchun city and other big cities in China. Full text is divided into six chapters:The first chapter is research review of interaction between the urban physical and social space. This chapter summarizes the theory research progress of urban spatial structure and the theoretical and empirical studies of interaction between urban physical and social space for domestic and foreign. Meanwhile, the chapter put forward the research angle and research topic of the thesis, and establishes coupling analysis frame between urban physical and social space.The second chapter is the basic theory of coupling between urban physical and social space. This chapter defines and analyzes concept and characteristics of coupling between urban physical and social space, and identifies the coupling system elements and structure and function. Furthermore, the chapter discusses the foundation theories of coupling between urban physical and social space.The third chapter is coupling process between urban physical and social space for Changchun city. This chapter analyzes evolution rule of coupling between urban physical and social space in Changchun from three periods such as the Puppet Manchuria period, planned economy period and the transition period. Then the paper studies coupling characteristics and coupling structure modes and coupling factors between urban physical and social space in different historical stage.The fourth chapter is the evaluation and regional types of coupling between urban physical and social space for Changchun city. Firstly, this chapter establishes coupling evaluation system between urban physical and social space, and introduces models of harmonious degree and coupling degree. Secondly, this chapter classifies the phase and level of coupling between physical and social space. On this basis, the thesis obtains the conclusion of coupling regional types between urban physical and social space.The fifth chapter is coupling mechanism between urban physical and social space for Changchun city. This chapter is the core part of the whole thesis. The coupling mechanism between urban physical and social space includes coupling power and coupling mechanism and coupling way. This chapter also discusses coupling mechanism between urban physical and social space from the theoretical and practical aspects for Changchun city.The sixth chapter is coupling regulation between urban physical and social space for Changchun city in the social transitional period. This chapter establishes coupling regulation system between urban physical and social space, and analyzes typical discordant characteristics of coupling between urban physical and social space for Changchun city. At the same time, the chapter forecasts future coupling trend, and then put forward the coupling regulation countermeasures to promote coordinated development between urban physical and social space.
