Management information system(MIS) is the only way of management informationization, the informationization projects in any enterprises and institutions including the agricultural sector such as the government’s macroeconomic management, e-commerce, ERP (enterprise resource planning), CRM (customer relationship management), PDM (product data management), SCM (supply chain management) are part of fields of management information system’s research and application. For a long time, the dynamic, diverse and uncertain business needs in management information system development have become repeatedly some bottlenecks in development, implementation, applications, and even caused the system to fail. The management information ontology theory and its middleware can effectively solve the problems existing in the development of management information systems, and has achieved good results in practice. This work introduced a management information ontology middleware platform based on management information ontology ideas and software engineering theory, combined with related professional positions and process of management informationization of typical industry and business in the agricultural sector, under the framework of conception, design and implementation, gave a detailed analysis and ontological structure to the implementation cases of management information system, so that provided a useful exploration for the engineering research and development, application, maintenance of management information systems. The main research results and significance of this work are as follows:1.Propose a model of management information ontology triplesAfter the demonstrations to the management information ontology triples and the empirical application of typical industries and businesses, it is sure that management information ontology triples and corresponding functional components can be applied to many management information systems in industries, including the agricultural sector certainly. The semantic description system components have mapping characteristics from the management information processing to the actual business, and can complete dynamically the multi-step continuous processing of predicate calculus.2.Optimize the management information system development process based on the ontology middlewareThe "dual track" development process of management information system based on the ontology middleware integrates one platform with application and development of manage information ontology middleware, greatly reduces the communication difficulties between the developers and managers, and has achieved a "Evolved" process of improvement. development cost, development cycle, development efficiency can be improved exponentially.3. The component library can be called online and assembled dynamicallyThe component library developed contains15-20functional components, as well as dozens of related custom functions or database functions. The components in the library implement online calls and dynamic assembly, they can be interpreted without compiling and published, they have appropriate particle size and simple reasonable design parameters, and other sufficient functions. In the application, they have shown functional saturation trajectory as a good example for the other component library development.4.Empirical research industry and businessThis work selected two typical industry and business management cases such as agricultural products identification&certification, accounting treatment to implement management information ontology middleware. The results show that the development costs can be saved by20-50%, the development period can be shortened by50%over, the development efficiency can be increased1-2times. Moreover, the results of this work also have been widely applied in other industries and business areas such as chemicals, clothing and travel, and brought the economic benefits of up to millions per year, and fully affirmations from many users.5.Empirical research functions and processesThe work also selected printing and distribution processes as supply chain to implement management information ontology middleware. The results show that the management information ontology middleware has many print definition and implementation functions such as convenient definition, flexible adaptation, automatic layout, overprint, microprinting, multi-joint papers, account pages, digital-traditional printing, output redirection and other functions, it also can achieve real-time logistics and inventory monitoring and control mechanisms, or supply chain distribution algorithms freely defined. Mechanisms to achieve these functions and processes of this work indicate that the research results can be applied not only to the agricultural sector, but also extended to other sectors of the management information system implementation.6. A preliminary study of Internet applicationsFor the growing popularity of applications about the Internet and the cloud computing, the management information systems based on B/S have gradually become the main platforms, the work conducted some exploratory researches on the application and development of the Internet. Under the ontology middleware framework, the work built an ontological business intelligence cloud architecture including four layers such as field clouds, application clouds, data clouds and infrastructure clouds, as well as a database cloud architecture including four layers such as environmental tables, business tables, indexing tables and data tables, then initially realized an ontology middleware platform model of many management information systems based on B/S structure.
