The21st century, the cultural power increasingly begins to replace the power of politics, economy and military to become the focus of competition among countries and regions. Based on the importance of the cultural power in the national strategy, the film industry is not only a business, or a culture carrier, but also an important part of the country’s foreign policy. Through specific images that shows the story, characters, social outlook and social values, films establish their attractiveness and solidarity of a nation in the minds of other countries, and thus having a profound impact on a country in various activities. To become an important cultural carrier of the national strategy, Chinese films have to possess international influence and attraction, which is the theoretical basis and the value of this study.This study is mainly to focus Chinese films in mainland. Taiwan and Hong Kong, to analyze the awarded films in the three major European International Film Festivals. by both content and text analyses, to summarize the successful experience and lessons of Chinese films to spread the Chinese culture in the International Film Festivals, and to provide the approaches to expand the oversea communication of Chinese films.The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter mainly discusses two aspects:First, the possibility of China films integration is talked about from the perspective of cultural homology; second, the Chinese films in International Film Festivals will be discussed. Chapters Ⅱ and Ⅲ will overview the Chinese awarded films and compare them with the ones in the United States and other areas, further clarifying the status and importance of the China Films in the International Film Festivals. The fourth chapter discusses the awarded Chinese films on the transnational (district) levels and their impacts on the International Film Festivals. Chapter five summarizes the Chinese awarded films mainly from the perspectives of themes and characters and further explores the selection of films and preferences in International Film Festivals. The last chapter proposes, on the basis of the above analysis, the strategies to enhance the ability of international cultural communication from the perspectives of culture construction and mode of communication.
