Compared with other flat panel displays, full-color LED display panels have unique advantage in brightness, vivid color, large-size display applications and so on, which brings about widespread applications and huge market prospects. However, with the expansion of LED display panel size, the discrete characteristics among all the LED light pipes become prominent, which results in“pits”and“mosaic”defects, drops down the uniformity of the panel, affect the display quality seriously, and restrict the development of high-end LED display applications also. To resolve the defects, this paper researches the color uniformity calibration of full-color LED module display panel, which is more common on the market based on colorimetry theory.With the study on the color reproduction and color gamut conversion principle, this paper determines the technology roadmap to complete color uniformity calibration of LED display panel by the method of color space conversion. The paper proposes a method for positioning the reference color space, which can reduce the color gamut loss on LED display panel after calibration, while ensuring that each display pixel can be effectively calibrated.To resolve the low efficiency question when acquiring the color parameters, this paper proposes a method for acquiring bright and color parameters separately based on the analysis of the imaging and display characteristics of full-color LED module display panel. The method greatly improves the acquisition efficiency, and makes the acquisition by dot detection equipment feasible in practice.On the basis of the analysis on the characteristics of display control system, this paper also proposes a method for separating the color calibration coefficient and its algorithm model. This method easily completes the color uniformity calibration process on LED display panel in practice for the first time without any additional hardware cost.With continuous analysis, optimization and validation, this paper finally completes the color uniformity calibration of full-color LED module display panel, so that the color uniformity of LED display panel achieves the requirements of high-end products, which effectively raises the level of domestic LED display panel.
