City Home Care Needs Of Older Persons Living Environment Study

Dwelling environment is the important part for the establishment of a sound social services system for the elderly and the improvement of the aged service security system. "Livable environment" has been added in the Law on Protection of Rights and Interests of Seniors in 2013, which focuses on developing the livable residence and combines with the aging tendency, population distribution to promote the livable environment for the elderly. From the content, it pays attention on technology level, which researches the way of constriction or redevelopment. It is needed that through the studies of current dwelling conditions and the demand of the elderly, then, proposes relative policies.This dissertation is based on an increase in the aging population and establishing social service system for the old. From the view of demands for the elderly, it aims to help the elderly to get more supports from family and community.Quantitative research and qualitative research have been used in this dissertation.First, it analyses the housing condition for the elderly of the whole country and Shanghai. Second, analysis on the dwelling environment of the elderly and relative demand in Shanghai, in order to conclude the demand style of environment and the difference of demands. Third, it analyses on macro and micro of environment. In the end, there is a conclusion of the whole study.The study found out as follows.1. The conditions for the elderly have been improved, but the problem of adaptation is highlighted. Due to the shortage of home care and the weakening of the old-age function, enhanced dependent on living environment of older persons, lack of suitable old real living environment problems and contradictions between the housing needs of the elderly are becoming increasingly prominent.2. Purchasing power determines the demands of dwelling condition. Economic level depends on educational level. In-home elderly education differences in responses directly on the economic level, it also shows that demand for in-home elderly living environment difference and economic level of purchasing power level has a lot to do with it.3. Security is the important aspect of the dwelling condition.
