| This thesis is to discuss the practical strategy and technique of the power of culture, based on the documentary study of the propaganda posters from1949to the Great Cultural Revolution.The Chinese Communist Party(CCP) did not seized the power of culture well after acquiring the political power of China in1949for there were kinds of resistances from the old intellectuals and artists. CCP wanted to remold them. Meanwhile, people, leaded by CCP, has got the subject position and wanted the equivalent cultural position to seize the power of appreciating and composing culture art works. In this situation, the outlook on culture and art, formed during the Yan’an era in1940s, had to be practiced national wide. In the cultural revolution, the outlook on culture and art of Mao zedong was practiced completely after17years repeating and changing, and the proletariat culture became the particular view of this historical period.How was the outlook of culture and art of CCP, leaded by Mao zedong, being practiced with specific strategy and technique? With what kind of strategy and technique the CCP used to remold the image and motivate the illiterate people to participate the revolutionary movement? This thesis is going to answer these questions and explore the strategies and techniques of practice of the power of culture used by CCP.First, this thesis explored the origins and development of Chinese political posters, the outlook on culture and art of Mao zedong and CCP, the policies of art from1949to1976, then, analyzed the propaganda poster itself, including the attributes’changes and inner contents, as well, discussed the remolding and its effect executed by the power of culture of CCP. After these, this thesis explored the change of the way of seeing, CCP conducted a series of policies, changed the culture and art ultimately. People’s visual life was changed while the formation of proletariat culture, and the way of seeing reversed finally. CCP did not seized the power of culture naturally when they got the political power, it had to be achieved through complicated procedures and foundations, which are the strategies and techniques of practice of the power of culture. Just with the special strategies and techniques, CCP seized the power of culture finally after a long time struggle. On one hand, CCP empowered people with the power of culture, on the other hand, they motivated people to remold themselves during the practice of the power of culture.Focusing on the practice, entering by the strategies and techniques, this thesis analyzed the power of culture of CCP exhaustively to show the dynamic process vividly and comprehensively.Based on the study of political propaganda posters, it gets these findings of the special strategies and techniques. Firstly, CCP installed a kind of different outlook on culture and art as the principal of cultural and artistic practice; secondly, replaced the creation group by ordinary people through the strategy of popularization of art; thirdly, changed the instinct of propaganda posters from propaganda to agitation, to emphasize the practical effects; fourthly, on the techniques of drawing, formed specific symbol system, style, patterns of image, and strategy of narrative; finally, put the propaganda posters under the collective gazing, which changed the way of seeing ultimately, promoted the propaganda posters to every conner of people’s common life, and formed the consciousness of nation and class.The practical process of the power of culture was showed clearly through this research on propaganda posters. The process was complicated and interactive, and more important, it was practical, that means it was meaningful in practice. |
